for most of the other fluids on a Polaris, substituting something else won't hurt. For the front end, other fluids will be harmful. ATF fluids will usually work, but they will trash the front end after awhile. Seriously, what does the fluid cost for a front end change? $4.00? So if you use another type of fluid you might save $2.00? If you can't afford that two dollars to use the RIGHT fluid, how did you afford the 7,000 machine in the first place? Oil, trans, rear gearcase, antifreeze, they aren't anything really special. The front gearcase fluid requires both lubricating and frictional properties. the ATF covers the frictional properties but does not have the same lubricity as the polaris demand drive fluid. ATF fluid will damage things over time.
