You should be able to get one at a dealer.

Why, is your 450 shot?   If not then it would be alot cheaper to just trade it in on a 500 or larger machine.

I would go with what Rat said, But take all your goodies off and transfer to a new 500 or a twin

Yes it does not make any real sense to just pull a working 450 out and do a swap to a 500.   Good working 500 motors are hard to come by and a new one would run easy over a grand then there will be other things that will have to be purchased also to make the swap over.

Much better off in the long run to just get a different machine with a bigger motor in it.

Here are two things to look at.  On the bottom of the carb is a small plastic hose.   Get a longer hose and loop it downward then back up about to the top of the fuel tank.   This is an over flow line line along with being a drain line for the carb.   When the machine is running and thishose gets under water it sucks water into the carb.

Another hose to look at is the vent hose for the carb.   This hose comes from the side of the carb and is poked into a hole in the frame rail.   Again extend this hose to about the top of the fuel tank.

Fill the sparkplug boot with dilelectric grease.

Another thing is steam.  Steam gets trapped under the plastic around the airbox intake and motors do not like to run on steam.   There used to be a peice of foam wrapped around the base of the airbix intake to keep the intake tube in place and it helped keep steam from getting up around the intake.      I also drilled some small (5/16)holes in the side of the plastic were the intake is. I took a role of duct tape for a pattern, drew a circle on the plastic and drilled my holes in a pattern with in this circle.

Just going to a larger motor will not help deep water running ability.

Just a hint. it is a thousand times easier to sell a machine with non mud tires, no lift kit and stock exhaust etc then it is to sell a machine with these modifications.   Alot of people are nto into this deep mud stuff or they don't want a machine that has already had a life of playing in the nasty stuff.   That and your machine is now 3 years old when you consider that the 09s will be coming out real soon.

Ever think of a good clutch kit such as the Heelclicker?

As far as tire size, well even with a 500 you would be pushing it at anything over 27 inches.

well heres the mods i have done to my carb already before and still having the problems... my vent line is in my pod and all gaskets have extra gasket maker on them. screw in the bottom of the drain line from the carb... also you should know this if i sit in like tire deep water in the front and leave the back out when i go to gas it water comes out the exhaust but not alot. im strating to think i have holes in my exhaust pipe that may be causing this because the bolts are tight on it and the gaskets good.
