I am the proud owner of the three wheeled wonder, a honda foreman I want to lock it up, but I am courious about something. On the DGL is it only truely locked if you are only going straight, or does it stay locked when you turn? On the High Lifter Trax Lock Spool Locker whats the deal?  Im sure it is in true 4wd no matter what. If anyone can give me some insight, I would be grateful.

The spool the 2 front are locked togeather all the time. The DGL allows one tire to spin faster in a turn but u will not have the famous  honda 3 wheel spin anymore.

A easiest way to explain a Spool locker is by calling it a gear. It has no moving parts and locks the front drive train together for Full Locked Front Diff.

The DGL locker has clutches in it. The system is fully locked at all times, but the clutches give a limited slippage between wheel speeds only, NOT by allowing differential locking slippage. It allows the outer tire to speed up a little to aid in steering ease....BUT the axles are still locked together. The system does work, but you still have a fully locked front differential and steering effort is increased.

The DGL does require maintenance though. The clutches don't last forever, and friction modifier must be added to the gear oil. Also, if water gets into the differential, then the locker will fail until the oil gets changed. If dirt/mud/etc gets into the differential, then this can prematurely wear out the clutches.

The spool locker does not have any maintenance issues like the DGL. It will keep working until it physically breaks. BUT, the Spool locker has no slippage. So you have extremely difficult steering ALL the time.

I have the DGL locker in my Grizzly....and I absoluty love it. It is worth every penny I paid for it. Next to tires, it is the best modification I ever did.

Trust me on this, Get the DGL.  I had one on my honda rancher i just sold and it was awesome.  No three wheel spin outs and steered just as good as stock.  Best thing I ever put on the bike.
