well my dealer and i were talking and come to find out i can get another 300.00 off the machine if i only want a 6mo warrenty instead of the 2year.
i usally fix my machines myself anyways, think its worth the 300 savings or keep the 2yr warrenty????

I went with that on mine 6 months, i dont want anyone else working on my stuff. plus they are a tank of gas away from me so anything little i would be better off just buying it myself.
I also am one to beleive that AC should really not have to cover a bike that has all kinds of crap done to it as they did not design it to have lifts/huge outlaws, clutch kits and pipes and up to the racks in water all the time.
and on top of that if they dont want to warrenty it and you have any real mods done to it they will get out of it because you installed  _________ on it so know its not covered.

you read my mind
the more i been thinkin about the warrenty thing the more i been thinkin of just going with the 6 month
my new dealer is 1-1/2 hrs away now so i figured i will just fix it myself  reguardless, and we all know it was built for
i think ill call the dealer and take the $$$ off the machine.

One thing to keep in mind is if you get the 6 month and then the motor blows.  What will it cost in parts and you also have to consider your labor.  Is it worth the extra $300 ?

I would definately get the warranty. Lets say the pin in the diff gives because the tack weld breaks and it detsroys the diff, warranty paid for right theres. Lets say you beak and axle, warranty paid for right there. Theres just to may things that could happen where that $300 pays for its self. Heck you may never use the warranty but then again something amy happen and bam theres the warranty to take care of you.

yeap, i have a 5 yr. warranty on my '08 700 h1. i haven't really had any serious issues knock on wood but if i ever do it's there for me. i agree somewhat w/gwc in that if i do something that's my fault then i fix it or pay outta my pocket to have it fixed. the whole argument tho on a mudpro would be a lot more forgiving in my mind. i mean, they make a bike that they know you are gonna beat w/28" tires. i broke a front axle w/28" mudlites & i wasn't hammering the throttle. the best thing to do is to get a warranty for the length of the finance. also get insurance. you'll wanna get both. bike breaks from a bevel gear, diff or something like that warranty kicks in. bike rolls down a hill, you hit a tree or it gets stolen, insurance takes care of it. my 2 cents.

If you feel your machine needs the warranty, buy something you have more confidence in...  I'm with GWC on this one.

here is my problem
my new dealer is an 1hr and 1/2 away I've never had any work done there or business other than this new atv.
my old dealer there service dept cant fix a lawnmower to save there life, and i figure if its going to break something serious it will break within 6 mos of riding.

Yeap, and if your dealer is like the ones around here (that are close to me) they would not cover it anyway.
when i bought my 500 if i would have bought a 5yr warrenty i would be out every dime of that money and never got to use the warrenty .

i drove 3hrs to the dealer i bought mine from and i have been told they are great about doing warrenty work even with a few things done to the bike. but i would soon work on my own stuff.

but shoot $100 bucks in gas plus my time to drive all the way there, then back to pick it up another $100 bucks in gas i could have just used the $200 bucks and all that time to fix it my self. it sucks but thats the way it is up here as 90% of the dealer around here dont remeber your name once you walk out the door and it dont matter what brand you have.

i concur w/gwc. i'm just not in that same situation. my dealer is 20 mins away & has a top-notch mechanic. 5 year warranty for me is valuable & adds resale value too.

That little bit of money over say a four year loan is nothing. I broke an axle on mine and they replaced it after the six months for free. It payed for itself right there. Three hundred dollars is nothing on top of what you are paying for a new atv. I think it would be a good cheap investment. Three hundred dollars isnt that much money. Try telling them you will buy the bike if they throw the warranty in for free. I am pretty sure they would do that. Act like you are going to shop around for a better deal. Do some wheeling and dealing!

after selling my tcat my dealer who id bought 6 machines from since 2003 decided he wouldnt be getting any 09s in, and also there service dept couldnt fix the machines without guessing, sorry i dont like guess work(im a tech myself 28yrs) so now im forced to go to another dealer.
here is the problem cat dealers around here are far and few next dealer is 92 miles from me.
so i called the dealer asked him if he has any 09s coming yep, so the next thing was the price i also told him that i would be paying for this atv in full.
now the list for the mud pro is 9529.00 which i cant see i could see 8900.00 or so.
went down there wheelin and dealing i ended up paying 8950.00 out the door with tax.
so im thinking like gwc, to drive back and forth would cost me as much as an axle, and there isnt anything on this machine i couldnt fix myself , minus the cost of parts.
the H1 foundation has been out since 05 and has been a real good machine reliability wise, its mostly the thumb conrtol that will or will not break parts and if the drivetrain eng included has any flaws im sure that they will show themselves within a few months of riding.
im also thinking that 300.00 could go towards a new set of 29.5 laws as well

here's another take on it. you could get the warranty & then when something breaks, you could just get the part from the dealer & do the work yourself (if your dealer is willing to be that nice. mine is. mine lets me have a choice on if i want to do it or let them do it.). for a $100 part maybe you won't worry about it but for a $500-$1000+ part i bet you would. just another thot.
