what would be a good brand of lights to mount to your rack for extra lighting at night? I am not looking to lose my factory headlights, was just wondering what everyone else was running and how much they cost...Thanks.

The warn lights are a complete waste of money. Go to any auto parts store and there will be a huge selection to chose from. I got a pair of 55 watt lights for $14. I siliconed up the housing and mounted them up. They have spent most of their life underwater and work like a charm.

Done the same thing and it worked fine until I busted a lens (glass). I could even get replacement bulbs for a couple bucks if needed. Cost me a few stitches when I tried to pick up on the front of my bike and stuck the palm of my hand against the lens though.

If you don't seal them up the lenses will fog up and fill with mud and water and shorten bulb life. Venting the lights?? Never heard of that one. Everylight on my bike is sealed, and on my truck, they stay underwater alot too. LOL

If it's vented, water can get in.  And as much as my bike is underwater, there's not enough time in between for it to drain completely.  So mine are sealed and work like a charm.  They're the $20 lights from the auto parts store.

I had some Hella lights for about a year. They worked well and I ran them underwater several times. I took them off because I needed some more room on the front.

In response to your comment about needing more rack-room, I came up with this.  Took a piece of Marine plywood, painted it nice and heavy with truckbed liner, and mounted these lights on.  The outboard fog lights are about $18.00 from Advance Auto, and the inboard lights are the flood lights that ya see at Wally-World or most anywhere else.  VERY BRIGHT and can't even tell the factory lights are on.  It's hard-wired into the battery with a quick disconnect plug and it's all U-bolted to the rack.

I did the exact same thing on my last bike, couldn't have been happier and saved some $$ money over the hella's and KC's..
