I noticed the post about what you carry in your pockets... well this is a little different!

so what do you take with you when you go hunting?

I have a fanny pack with, small binos(gotta make room for my new nikons though), yardage pro 800, skinning knife, 20' rope w/ clevises(sp?) , a compass(wanting to get a gps but dunno which one I want), 2 orange vests, a face mask(orange, or anything to keep warm), couple hot hands, couple different calls, gloves(tipless w/ mit type covers), and depending on the gun I take a box of bullets or just a handful of em.

I also carry on me another knife, cell phone(on silent) and another bullet or 2.

I know all these bullets arent nessacary but ya never know what may happen.  I am pretty good with directions in the woods.  I can normally find my way around and just about get back on the exact trail I was on to begin with.  BUT I did come up almost lost the other day in texas... I knew which direction to head but  had walked a good bit farther than I thought I had... but I got back in line pretty quickly

I bought a hydration bladder back pack wit 2 liter bladder, most time my 30-06, numerous grunt, bleat, rattling, etc calls, alot of time my Ameristep Doghouse blind (best blind ever imo), trails end #307 trophy leaves, tinks # 69, gloves, neck gatter, tobogan, hat, usually 4-6 rounds of ammo, sometimes I take my 9mm during early season ( snake killer), flash light, cell phone, scent killer, gut hook from gerber, couple knives, butt out tool, orange blaze vest, burris binoculars. Probaly more but thats all i can think of and 90% of the time I have my atv within a 100 yards of me to get ready to haul anything out if need be

I figured we'de have more people chime in on this by now!

yanno I never really though about bringing TP, or wet wipes... well I do have some scent killer wet wipes... I usually keep TP in the truck

I forgot to mention that I do keep my flashlight and bow release in my bag at ALL TIMES whether im bow hunting or not.

I dun use scents very often... which may be why I have never killed a big buck.

On day trips just a Fanny pack with shells for me and goodies for me and my boys, knives, a few lighters and binoculars. The kids have to carry their own gear. I used to carry a GPS but it stays at home now that I seemed to be loosing a bit of my sense of direction from relying upon it.

On my main hunting trips I go way back for weeks, using a wheeler and trailer to get there, so the inventory changes but on hikes while I am back there the basics remain the same, with the exception of more layers of clothing and my GPS (as a backup to a compass) just in case.
