its the spider gears.  i wouldnt recomend doing this by any means.  it will make turning nearly impossible.

yeah turning is a bizzle with a welded front end.  My Kodi has a welded front end and I have a hard time turning and i am big boy.  If you going in a straight line it will walk through some holes but there is no sharp turn more like a 10 point turn everywhere.   Plus when you are just moving it around the yard like pushing it well it makes it near impossible to do by yourself.   but I bought it like that so oh well i just deal with it.

I went on and spent the money on a detroit gearless locker and it may as well be a spool locker!  I even bought new clutches and springs and it still feels like its locked up all the time!  I wish I'd saved my money and just got a spool locker or welded it up!

look on some of the truck sites. i have read quite a few write ups about doing it. the best write ups i have read said to leave a few teeth with out weld on each side. that way there will be a little give.

I've been reading what other people have been saying about a DGL though, it sounds like if I could put mine in 2wd, then it would be ok, but I'm not spending another 350 to 400 bucks for that, I'll just deal with it.
