i have compaired bi/tri's to mst, xtr, mudlite, 589 and vamps side by side. the mst's were on nearly the exact machine(arctic cats, one 650 h-1, the other 700). all others were on hondas. the only tire that could touch the bi/tri's in mud is the vamps. they all did a little better in trials, by that i mean they would slide a bit in off camber on loose leave coverd hills. but its not detrimental. the downfall it the climbing ability of the tri's, they dont do very well in that area, prolly the worst of the ones listed. vamps on the other hand will climb a tree. and keep in mind, the bi/tri's and vamps are "mud" tires that do very well on trails and hard surfaces,( i have about 900 miles on my bi/tri's and only the tips are rounded a bit, i would say 95% tread left, with more pavment riding then most as i live in the country on the hiway). the other tires are trail tires/allterrain, that do OK in mud. i said all that to say this, the bi/tri's and vamps are mudders that will walk the others in anything but hardpack, while the others edge them out on hardpack. my opinion is the trail tires are better than the mudders in hardpack, but just by a small margin, in certain caonditions, while anything that involves something other than hard ground the 2 mudders are light years ahead. with that said, my advice would be look into the vamps and bi/tri's. vamps climb great, but the bi/tri's float better. both need a little seat time to learn what works best. if i were to go with something other than the mudders, it would prolly be xtr's. although i have been told the 12" wide vamps float OK, that may be an option, 12's all around.
