I'm guessing the repo business is flourishing right now.  If I didn't have a newborn at the house I would help out.  I could use the extra money, umm, for the newborn.  Dang Catch 22.

probably a fun job, but also dangerous, as people don't like getting their cars repo'd, do you guys carry when doing repo's?

That is why I didnt put any info about repoing in the craigslist add. I am not asking anybody to put themselves at any risk or be a part of any repo. Just to drive around and tell me if the car is there or not. Probably on of the easiest jobs on the planet lol.

If somebody wanted to jump in the truck with me and ride along for the repo they could but thats up to them

I had a roommate that was a repo man.  Went out with him a couple of times and it was pretty intense.  We never found one but got close a couple of times. lol  We did wake a few people up in the middle of the night and a couple of people asked why we were looking at the VIN on their rides.  Anyway good luck with finding some help I'm sure there someone on here from that area that will jump on it.

why is this info relevant, what if i have an old beater 1990 geo metro, what does it matter what the person drives, or will it stick out like a sore thumb if they are driving through a rich neighborhood and someone suspects something, is this an operation like the one they have on TLC or whatever where they pull up to a car in an f250 and lay the tailgate down and unhook the cables and some lil tow truck contraption drops out the bed of the truck and u hook it up and away you go with it?  i saw it flipping through the channel one time and thought it was a neat design for something quick and fast

My cousin repo's, and it is illegal to carry while repoing.  Even with a license.  I have asked this question before to him because I would like to go.  I am not sure if its company policy.

I dont tink is true man. Its probably company policy, it is at most places. We deal with the police alot and this has never been an issue

I have know lots of guys who carry while repoing. 2 of them I know own their own company. 1 of them has accutally used his. He does all heavy equipment and the truck was already reped and the next day they took it back the the dealership. The "previous" owner showed up and jumped in the truck and tried the run over the repo guy.  he pulled his gun and the guy tried to run him over again and then heard the bullet wizz by his ear. decided to get out of the truck and give up. "previous" owner of that frieghtliner was taken to jail for assault with a deadly weapon.

I want my CHL not for repos. I am not worried about that. I can deal with those people. Its I am out all night by myself and Stand out in alot of neighborhods. It the randomn street thugs I have to deal with.

To bad I didnt see this eariler. I would be down for some hunting Repos. My dad has been a repo man all of my life. In the Houston area I might add. Shoot I bet he would be willing to "sub contract" a few deals if you wanted. I havent talked to him in a couple of weeks so I'm not sure if he is busy or not. The down side is he is still running an illusion rig and not a wheel lift. So as you know that can be a PITA to load and not damage but I guess he does fine since he has the same dealers he has always had. He has cargo liability etc.. and is pretty dang crazy lol.
I have been with him on some pretty harry deals in the past. jpxj94 I'm betting you would know his company.
Anyways hit me up next week if your still looking for some help. I am layed up with a busted knee but I can drive and spot. I drive a Dodge 2500 but its diesel and gets around 22MPG or so.

Ive repoed for 15 years and Im also a police officer...It is not against the law for a repoe man to carry a weapon.  Most people dont know, but it is now legal to ANYONE (except felons) to carry a weapon in thier vehicle.  The only thing is it has to be concealed and you can not be committing a class b offense or above while carring the weapon.  So, as long as your not breaking any laws then you can carry..

I recommend everyone to carry a weapon.  Just remember to tell the officer you have one and where it is...If you get stopped then dont reach for anything until the officer tells you, unless you like having a gun screwed into your ear...

Except in Harris County Texas lol. The DA (well the former one who was just run out of office a few months ago) was still having us file UCW unless the person had a CHL. This is the same county KQ and JPX are in. I have not tried to file on this for a while so I dont know if the intrum DA is still taking it.
This is Same DA office will not let officers issue summons on Class B misdemeanors either. Same DA requires charges be filed through county system for PI instead of doing it on a citiation like in the past. Oh well we will have a new DA soon. I guess we will see what he brings.
Harris County (Houston area) has always walked to the beat of a different drum. We have a DA intake screening division on the clock 24/7. Before you can file a charge you must run it past them and have their name for the charge sheet. Been this way for 20 plus years. They were the first in the state doing it this way. I think Dallas and a few other countys have since followed in the last few years.
Anyways sorry for getting off topic but I would hate to see someone on here end up in the iron bar Hilton for not knowing how their county works. Again I hope it will change with the new DA but who knows.
