Does anybody have a tractor muffler on the older cats?  I am about to order one and not sure how to mount it?

It is louder then a stock pipe for sure but its alot quieter then a HMF  and gives good power gains.
it does not sound as nice as a HMF , maybe its alittle more rasby (sp)  or "tinne" sounding.? i think it sounds fine though.

yes that is the bracket that i made for the HMF i used to have on it and i just made a bracket to go to that because i used to take the HMF off and run this muffler some times, bascily i could run either muffler with a 10min swap time.

got ya cause I just ordered a AC-1 off ebay.

I guess I will go up to a muffler shop and ask if they can mount it.   My welding skills are about as good as a 2 year old hand writing.

shoot i did not weld anything, thats a 3.5" muffler clamp and a peice of flat steel thats on the muffler. and when i change it all i will do is take out the extra bracket and move the main bracket back and make the flat steel peice longer to reach the frame.
mounted it to the head pipe with a simple muffler clamp.

so just a muffler clamp at where the muffler and head pipe meet.  Then just extend the bracket down right?

yeah its got one muffler clamp at the head pipe (think its s 1 1/2" clamp) then half way down its got ( i think ) 3 1/2" muffler clamp and put it on . i then took a 1 1/4" flat peice of steel drilled two holes in it so it would fit on the 3 1/2" clamp and then bolted it on then drilled a hole in the other end to bolt to the frame or in my case the bracket i allready had on there. real simple, cheap and easy to do.

so you just put the tractor pipe in the head pipe and then put the clamp on it?

pretty much   the AC-3 muffler fits on the 05 and down head pipe real nice well just like the stock muffler does anyway.  the 06 and newer head pipes are bigger and will take a different muffler .

well darn, looks like i'll have to do something else. i want something that doesn't get louder when it gets wet, like a black magic. i think i might just mod my stock pipe.

no it does not have one, modding the stock muffler will sound real nice and gives good power gains as well.

so the ac-3 slides into the head pipe , you did not have to cut the head pipe or old muffler

yes the AC-3 just slides right on just like the stock one no cutting of anything.

the 06 and up head pipe is larger so a person will need to find a muffler that has a larger pipe to fit over it and have it flared out to fit up against the gasket like the stock one does. just wil take alittle more work to get it down is all.

Just an FYI.  The 06 and newer bikes use the ac2 or ac4.  They are a direct bolt on just like the ac1 and ac3 was for the 05's.  The ac2 and ac4 mufflers are the exact same, the only difference is the inlet and outlet pipes are different lengths between the two, same diameter though.

would you run double pipes on a v2? or is there a tractor pipe with dual inlets?

Hey guys im on the fence  its either a AC-1 tractor pipe or a Cherry Bomb glass pack.    The AC-1 will fit in the inlet pipe cause they are the same size.  The Cherry bomb has 2inch inlet but which one do you think would sound better?
