ok, i have a brute 650i and i love how sporty it is... basically the kind of rider i am is cruise down the trails at higher than normal speeds, corner like a dream, rock crawl and play on hills... i want a tire that wears good, grips the sidehills good, and is not scared to go through a little mud if i have to. i want something that will absorb the trail shock and can grip the corners. do i have the right tire? i got the 25x8x12 and 25x10x12, im scared to go to a bigger tire because of the wear and tear on the tranny and the loss of power... so did i make a good decision?

i got the 14" terra's, think they are a great tire, for what you do, my 14" didn't take impacts to well, trashed 3 tires in a few months, hitting rocks at brisk speeds, find that the 14" doesn't have the  " give" a 12" tire has,  if i was going slow, probably wouldn't have had a problem.

25" tires on your brute isnt going to hurt anything, if you put 28" tires then it might but bot 25'S

well i have 27" tires on my 650 and it didnt really take any power, you wouldnt have a power loss at all if you went with 25".

for your riding, 25" are good, you don't want to big of a tire, for high speed, or hill climbing. if you need more clearance, do a 2" lift, but you already got close to 12" clearance anyway. funny, i took off my 14" terra's and put on 30" mudlites, 12" rims, to do some mudding, thought they handled o-kay, steered easy, and took hitting rocks, like a cushion of air. not stiff like the 14" terra's.  won't be doing any high speed trail riding with them, but way more comfortable.
