The MST will last longer and is the overall better tire, but I think the 29.5s will be a better tire then 28" almost anything. My vote is for the 29.5s. The 29.5 swamplites run tall too so you will have about another inch of ground clearance with them.

29.5 SL's, with correct PSI they'll run actually about 30.5'' tall.....and i ordered mine online yesterday for 94$ a tire brand new. Compare prices and go from there....for it to even be close, in mud performance especially, you'd have to run 28x12 MST on all corners.

I think you would be happy with either tire. The mst is a great tire with a great design and good compound that seems to hold up well. The SL rides good and does great on the trails and hills and will pull thru mud decent on big bores because you can spin fast enough to clear em out since the design is not self cleaning. Plus the added ground clearance of the 29.5 gets your thru a lot. The downside to the SL is it is a soft compound and much time on the blacktop or concrete and your gonna see it.

I am undecided here too, I found a place i can get some cheep mst's but i have 27" swamplites on my bf 750 and they work really really good anywhere i go. I want to get 27" mst's but are they heavier then a 27" SL?? Or should i get another set of SL's?

thanks, and sorry for trying to steal your thread i just dont want to start another one for no reason.

With the power you have i would say at least upgrade to at least 28 SL's.....but thats my opinion....if you ride alot of Concrete/black top i would consider MST

I would go with mst's. I have 28s and a buddy of mine has has 27 inch sl  and even with enough pressure so they measure the same the msts still out preform the sl

I have both tires, and Im starting to like the swamplites a little better, except when riding on hardpack or pavement.

If the "work everywhere" you go then don't bother switching. The key for everyone is finding a tire that works best for their riding styles and soil types. If a SL works good in your neck of the woods and you like the ride and look and so on then I wouldn't bother switching. For me, I'm unhappy about certain aspects of my MudBugs and so I'm currently switching. However some guys say the bug works perfect for theri riding so they stick with what they like. I'd recommend the same for you.

MST's all the way - The SL's will dig way too much with the big bores.

Just my opinion.

Got to agree with you there, I just replaced brand new 26" Mudlites with brand new 26" Swamp Lites, and from what I can tell as of now (same trails, same bog) the Swamp Lites do everything better than the Mudlites. Plus they are literally 1-1.5" taller in the same size, my Mudlites measured 25.5" and the Swamp lites measure just under 27", both with 7lbs in em.

I have had nothing but crappy luck with my MST's so far.  Last weekend I popped one rear off the bead (and it was bead sealed) and the other rear was spinning the rim but not the tire. LOL! I run the correct tire pressure too.   Could be these lousy rims , I won't listen to any salesperson again!
