How do I remove the springs from the shocks on the suspension? Is there a special tool that people use?

I have always used a McPhereson strut compressor. It attaches to the springs with u-bolts. They seem a lot safer than some of the spring compressors I have seen. Also, they are readily available at most auto parts stores.

i havent seen one at the auto zone that worked i guess.  i rented one there once and man what a pain that was. the coils where to small on the spring , so it just kept slamin out of it, right past the u bolt locks

hey crazyrotts , i used to live in avon park!

I might be moving soon too. My job wants me to relocate to Greenville/Greer, SC. I'm going to check it out this weekend and I'm not looking foward to the drive.

yeah they still have the track. The big race is the "24 hours of sebring" I think it in March. There's all kind's of cars. I work pretty close to the track so I can hear the cars whenever they are racing or practicing.
