got a buddy that sunk his bike this weekend at mudcreek. got mud in the motor and took it to the dealership. the dealership is telling him $4800.00 to to rebuild it. he could almost buy another bike for that. does anyone know where he might be able to buy a used motor? he has a '07 BF650i 4x4....

wow....he can get it re-built 2 or 3 times for that price......that was smart taking it to the dealership that soon after he sunk it, ya'll should've flushed the motor out before he took it to them...IMO..... also honestly i personally don't think getting mud in the motor once will cost that much to do the top end on it..unless it lost compression and scarred the cylinder walls.....nevertheless....GOOD LUCK

right after it happened, we stood it up, drained the carbs and there was no compression what so ever. pulled it back to camp and the oil looked like milk. they said $800.00 to tear it down, $800.00 to put it back together and he is telling me the parts list alone is $2400.00. I guess the rest is labor cost. I told him if i were him to go with aftermarket parts to save money. I don't know what he is going to do I just thought i would ask around and see if anyone knew where he could be a new motor or a good used motor.

Take the motor off yourself.. It is very easy to do and self explainatory... Put it in a ice chest and send it to Flynts custom performance... It would make no sense to pay that kind of money to have it rebuilt by the stealership...

It is imposible for it to cost that much to rebuild it. You could buy a brand new motor for that!! +1 on send it to flynt. I am just waiting to sink mine again so flynt's able hands can "touch" my motor. LOL Best of luck to your friend.

I sank mine to. Luckily I didnt mess up the valves. It took me 14 of my own hours taking everything apart. Changed oil 6 times, cleaned almost every part, drained carb, pulled it about 60 times to get all the water out, changed other oils, and spark plugs and now shes running again! Still dont know how I have 8 screws and bolts left over????
