Have you soaked it with PB Blaster for a couple days?

Take a small pry bar or a bent tip flat head screwdriver. Wedge it between the cup and the geracase at the bottom. This will get the retaining clip tight against the groove inside the gearcase. Now tap down on the cup with a hammer. This will pop the top of the clip out of the groove. Keep tapping gently and keep preasure with the prybar on the bottom side and you should be able to work it out.

NOTE: be careful with the prybar! don't try to pry it out. The geacase is soft and can break. Just drive it in to put preasure on the cup.
There is also a seal behind the cup that you don't want to mess up.

Wakeman,

Is the inner joint intact?? Stary by spraying it with a good penetrating oil and letting it soak overnight. I have been able to drive them out with "ball joint fork" if they aint stuck bad. Others I have welded a link of chain to the outed cup of the joint and then jerket the snot out of it with a slide hammer.

While you have that joint out I would tear down the other side too while you can drive the joint straight out and the use lots of anti seize and or marine grease when you put it back together.

Just my $.02

Good Luck!!

Yea. Once you have one side out, you can drive the other side out fron the hole where you removed the first one. The ring gear has a hole all the way thru it. Just take a big punch or a piece of pipe and hit it with a hammer to drive the second cup out.

No. You can crack the gearcase.

Just get the prybar wedged in near the bottom of the cup (if you notice, the cup will rock up and down a little bit) and tap down on the top of the cup. Works great.
