hey guys i just raced my buddy as he picked up a new 08 outy 800. We raced on pavment with his stock outy 800 with 26" mudbugs against my 08 outy 800 26" outlaws, piped (hmf) and dalton clutch kit with heavy weights. Off the line i get about half to a bike length if that than he catches me at mid range & pulls just a tad ahead, id say about a bike length all the way tell were both toped out. Question here is putting a Dalton clutch kit & hmf exhaust cost me over $600 and yet to lose to the same bike stock sucks. Driver's have nothing to do with it cause we are very well experenced and launch the **** out of these bikes. So Since the exhaust seems like it aint doing much for power if theres anyone out there that wants a hmf pipe let me know. why deal with all that noise on a trail ride if i dont gain any extra hp, seems pointless for me.

also this weekend im racing the new 09 outy 800r as one of my best friends picked it up. Im going to film that race and post it on you tube so you can see the real diffrence between 08 vs 09 bikes.

come back after you get the pciii.  i'm sure your afr is all out of whack and needs to be adjusted.  when you get the unit you need to have your bike tuned and then you should really see it wake up.

those outlaw tires ain't helping you, put on some lighter tires and then race him, plus like muddyfuzzy, said your probably out of tune, putting on a pipe
snorks, youve changed the a/f ratio, you got to tune it, to get the benefit, crap i raced a guy, he had a 07 grizzly 700, i rode my 07 grizzly 700, he weighs about 325 lbs, i weight 215 lbs, i did the pod mod to mine, he was stock. same size tires, we were dead even. obviously, something out of adjustement on my machine.

you need to get the pc.icouldnt tell the difference just cruising around but i raced a one seater that was stock other than the tires, which are the same size as mine and i was 2-3 lengths ahead after 300ft 3 out of 4 times.

OUTLAWS WILL KILL YOU, THEY DON'T HAVE THE HARD PACK TRACTION  THAT THE OTHER TIRES HAVE PLUS THEY WEIGH MORE

If you use the heavy rivets in the dalton kit you maintain your top speed.  If you are running larger tires (28+), the rivets can cause you to shift out at too low of an RPM hurting your performance.

Tires do make a huge difference.  My wife's stock 650 Outlander kicked the crap out of an 800 Renegade which was piped....but it also had 29.5's on it as well.

to many varibles....and that pip/snork is doing you no good with out it being tuned... ( in fact i would be willing to bet you have less pwer than a bone stock 800 probabbly runnning way rich) laws are killing you... and the clutch set up you have if your using all the rivots heavy is not gonna help you in a drag AT ALL i can show you dyno sheets on the same dyno the increase after ading pipe filter snorkel and pcIII. up from about 44 hp@trw to 61hp@trw
i just bought an 07 from vodoo with just a full ron woods set up and air filter and renegade weights my bike has t more low end power than hers with 29.5 laws but hers as bruterecoveryman found out last nite  still has throttle left @ 72mph with 26 inch msts once i snorkle it this week and get her pcIII and tuned it and do some clutch work she is gonna be bad but wont be 72 mph anymore but should lauch like crazy in run fast with stockers in 300 feet... mine is almost undragable with the stock tires on it it pulls the front off the ground and when i can lauch it well with the stock tires on it it carries the front tires about 2 inchs off the ground 75% of the 300 feet but again i am not set up for speed i am set up turn big tires. as far as your clutch question what is your application and we can help you better to set up what you need.... outtys are all about the clutch

using those heavy steel rivets w/26 inch outlaws your probably shifting out to fast. what rpms are you hitting when you mash the throttle?  the aluminum rivets or grinding a little off the steel ones would get you out of the hole quicker and probably not have you lose much of any thing off the top. If your hitting less than 6900 rpm in the first 200 feet take some weight off those rivets. if you didn't mash them real flat you can take an 1/8 inch off what sticks out past the lever.  outlaws are just to heavy to run steel rivets even at 26 inch.  good luck
