got a 96 sportsman 500, got ready to crank it today, and it would not. All I get is a clicking sound from the slyniod. It has a new battery. What do you think it is, Starter, or the slyniod? How do I check and see which 1 it is. It will pull start right up with no problem.

I would check your battery connections or maybe the battery needs to be recharged. My 99 Sportsman had the same problem last week and it was a loose negative cable on the battery.

If the Battery is good(make sure volts are at least 12.4v(75%) then Make sure you have a good ground to your engine! There should be a large ground wire next to your hi/low/reverse shifter which connects your engine to ground frame, without it , the starter wont work. Check that. I know lots about electrical, let me know and I'll go step by step how to test the circuit... but check all connections first INCLUDING ground connections...
