I used to live in NH and never had any problems with having a snorkle. I have been pulled over by F&G and local PDs doing their registration checks etc and they never said anything about the snork. But yeah like you said Maine did outlaw them.

Outlawing snorkels?  That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard.  It's like the government trying to tell you that you can't have mud tires on your truck, or a lift kit.  I really wish that the politicians would do something about the economy and not waste our tax dollars on such crap legislature.

It's pretty bad when you can buy a factory atv that comes with snorks, but Maine has outlawed them.

i ride in ma, n.h. and maine the only state that has a problem with snorks is maine.
they figure that if you have snorks that your plan is to go to the swamps and ponds.
ive talked to the game warden up there, about snorks due to i didnt know they were illegal either
andi had them on my tcat.
he basically told me to stay away from the swamps, ponds and if i run into another warden have them give him a call.
so i basically got a weekend pass, next time i go if i have them its a fine.

I guess I can see where they're coming from.  The legal trails in Maine (which I ride) do not consist of mud that requires snorkels.  They probably figure, if you don't need them on "their" legal trails, than people shouldn't have them on "their" legal trails.  This may help stop people from riding off the trails and ripping up other habitat.  If you're in your own pond, than you're not on a Maine state trails - so they can't say anything.  It still seems a little harsh, but as tubo has done; he talked to the local game warden.  If you're not causing trouble, than the game wardens in Maine are usually ok.

Jdizzle, actually they aren't, just restricted.

Minnesota law states you can not have snorkels more than 6" above the stock snorkle.  Also, if you do get ticketed for ANYTHING on an ATV the fine is doubled if you have any snorkels.

The minnesota dNR is so screwed up I think they should really just be disbanded and have something started from scratch that makes sense.

I went to the atv jamboree up in Stratford NH last month and left my snork on. All was fine with it in NH, only restriction is stay on the trails cuz it's mostly private land owners land with permission on the trails which run thru them.  By the way, the jamboree was a washout and pretty boring. My friend won the mud bog track in 2wd.

I also had some concerns regarding this. I just used a male adaptor where my snork mounts to the racks and just swap out the long riser for a short elbow only. Comes off in a jiffy if I need to swap them out for stealth mode.

when u go to maine lower them a bit and put a box on around them on the front rack making it look like a storage compartment and hope they do not look for the piping from the cvt and other area's where there is a will there is a way to conceal them.

I didnt know about the double fines! Mine are 5 3/4" above factory but my bet is you would have to prove that in court, I dont think any COs are going to belive that without proof. Might have to work on hiding them all together or Im going to wind up driving a couple hundred miles for a court date!

It's the Minnesota legislature that's screwed up. The DNR gets their orders from them. This whole mess started with a 4 page biased, one sided hack job in that bastion of journalism, the (Red) Star Tribune. It got the non atv population all whipped up over nothing, and the legislature over-reacted with all these stupid laws
