I finally got some pics of the primary shim mod, the demension of the shim is 22mm ID and 32.5mm OD and it needs to be 2mm thick, the Nyroc forum has the part number so you can order two 1mm shims from Yamaha but i just gave the demensions (listed above) to a machinest and it took him about 2 hours and $10 and i was out the door.

The primary is the sheave on the right, the shim goes in between the inside half of the sheave and the spacer.

My finger is on the added shim, i had my machinest make the shim out of brass so it wouldn't rust. You can clearly see how much lower the belt rides by looking at the dark place going around the outer edge of the sheave, before the shim, it was right on the edge. Best mod for the money as far as im concerned, lower gear ratio and better engine braking.

Have you ever messed with the clutch?  If your not mechanically inclined, I wouldnt recommend that you get into the clutch assy.

then you shouldnt be doing any major maintenance or mods by yourself.  Find someone to show you how to work on your bike so you will be more familiar with it so if something does happen, you can work on it yourself.

Well I agree with you kq700rider but the way I learned pretty much everything I know was going out to the shop and tear it apart and put it backtogether the same way I took it apart. A clutch is pretty self explanatory so it wouldnt be to bad of a place to start. Just go and read some how tos like I did and it should be pretty easy.

Yes, but not really sure as to how much!  I've heard kinda mixed reviews on it, sooooo . I may do it eventually, but not until I can do the fixed sheave mod also. That gives you what you lost on top-end +, so this is very promising!  Hope this helps....Brandon

You'll lose 5 to 8 mph (it depends on the quad) on the top end when you add the shim. A small price to pay for the added low end grunt.

It's not as good as a clutch kit but as far as the price and the ease of doing it, it's a real good mod. to do.

You should be able to but make sure you have at least 2mm of spline going into your roller plate.

i didnt atempt it today cuz i got stuck grinding the right rear bearings out and replacing them  i have some questions about shimm mod, does the clutch engage like its geared lower and the whole powerband is geared lower, or it geared lower only when going slow? im debating if i should just do it cuz its easy and to tell yall or my wheeler turns the tires fine,im most likely gonna do it tomorrow and stop procrastinating
