I have a 04.5 sportsman 500 and when shifting it into gears it is really hard takes alot of effert. my 08 shifts with ease. Any ideas on what my be causing this? Any info would be nice.

Does it shift easy when the machine is shut off? If so then the issue is in the clutches. Either then are dirty and need to be cleaned and serviced or the clutch alignment is off causing the belt to drag.

is ur idle set right too high will cause this also
