I am looking for sand tires that are between 25 and 27 inch. I know ams makes some. does anyone know if anyone else makes them this big? I would like to know who.  And I would buy some if someone had some. I am looking at the ams aerostars right now but if i could find a bargain in some used Id be all for it. thanks

It depends what you want them for and what they are going on. What are you gonna use them for and what are they going on?

Weeeeelllllll, I have a 2001 wolverine that I have modified to float.  But I want to have some tires on it that will move it through the water when its not touching bottom. At the same time however, I want to be able to ride it on asphalt, hard pack trails, and lite mud. Now I realize that I wont be able to excel in mud but the wolverine is weak anyway. It wont turn aggressive tires in mud.  I have initally decided that a sand type tire will do best to motivate through the water but I welcome all ideas, viewpoints, and advice.

A ITP 4-snow will work good for you.

No mud tire will do good on asphalt and hard pack.
No sand tire will do good on asphalt, hardpack or mud.

A Bighorn will work fairly well on all those terrains except water, I think.

Now IF and ONLY IF you want a high performance sand tire, give skat trak a call. They get all my business. They build some jam up sand tires. They have a new tire called a terrain trak that may do well on all those conditions but I have never seen them perform so Im not sure

I dont care how they ride. I run outlaws on my foremans but the wolverine is so weak it wont even turn them in the mud. So I have to have something less aggressive. But the number one concern is it abiltiy to propel me through deep water.  That is, a really deep creek. Probably 40 feet to the bottom. It has a slight current so I need the quad to be moving water. That is why I thought of a sand tire.  I just wonder how fast they will wear out trail riding.  Perhaps what i need is a mud tire with the right kind of tread pattern.... any ideas anyone?

Outlaws wont paddle enough water. Try maybe getting skat trak to make you a set 20x11x10" 14 paddle haulers. MAke sure to tell them you want them made on the lumberjack tire carcass. You are gonna want a small diameter tire like 20-22" for maximum rotational speed and a lot of paddles to scoop the maximum amount of water each revolution.

Honestly I would stay away from a creek that big unless you absolutely know that bike will float

hehe, i have tested it. it will float. it sucked some water in one time and I had to paddle out. that was funny.  what is it that makes the lumberjack carcass good?

It has a thick sidewall and overall a very tough tire. Its not a nessesity. Matter a fact I dunno if you can get the lumberjack carcass for a 20-22 inch tire. Hmm hafta give em a call monday. I think the 20x11x10 hauler with 14 paddles will work good. Take all your snorks and run up to the handlebars under the plastic. The wolverine is belt drive right?

the wolv is the 4x4 version of the warrior. it is 350 air cooled gear driven semi automatic.  no bells or whistles which is good for this type of app.  It really needs some big bear gears in it to help in the mud but I havent had any luck. The reason I want 25 to 27s is to keep my ground clearance for the trail riding.  That may be a problem for paddle tire design.
