did run a new hose for the crankcase breather hose?  goes from the top of the engine to the air box,  it has a slit in it from the factory and will suck water and mud?

what about the line with a check valve from the throttle body?

have you smoked your belt and now it is just glazed over?

do have the right clutch kit for going in mud?

just a few things to check out, maybe someone else knows more than me and can help you out further.

the belt box has no drain plug or anything, you need to drill a hole in the bottom and put a tire valve in it, but take the valve stem out so it would drain.  the trick is take a water hose and stick it in your blet intake/exaust, and fill it up to the top, then if it leaks you will find out where, its a bitc to, took me 3 tries before i had everything perfect, i also pulled off the blet drives and sealed up the back plate for the belt box aswell since my buddys leaked

the "hose" off of the top of the engine is by your spark plugs in a sense that it is on top of the heads.  it is a pretty big hose that ties into your air filter housing.  if you look there is a white line where the slit is.

as for where to drill, drill under the primary clutch(the lowest point of the belt housing as to drain as much of the water as possible)(more towards passenger side)  also may want to consider as above, taking off your clutches and pulling off the back part of the belt housing(the part that bolts onto the motor) and silicone all of the back of the bolt holes and the big holes to seal it up tight, and then silcone your housing together as to make sure it wont leak.  you will need a clutch puller to do so and it has to be polaris specific.  sorry but i didnt take any pics when i did mine.

when all is done, and the silicone is cured you will either put the water hose into the belt exhaust or belt intake.   if it holds water then you are good,  if it doesnt, you will can find out where the water is coming out of so you can fix it.  beats finding out on the trail and not knowing where it is leaking.                DO NOT PUT IN YOUR AIR INTAKE FOR THE ENGINE  BAD BAD BAD.

supposely, it is for the "cold weather"  as so if the hose got frozen condensation from the hot air from the crankcase meeting the cold air of the air intake and freezing,  the slit is so the crankcase can relieve its pressure without blowing out the dip stick where you check the oil level...

i think. . .

i bet your belt box cover backing plate is looking where it seals to the tranny. mine did from the factory! first night out i had it snorkeled and was ready to go.. then it leaked. so the next day i took the clutches off sealed it up and put a "bolt in" valve stem in my box cover. under the primary at the lowest point. comes in handy should i ever fill it up. one thing i do now is test the belt snorkles after i snorkel one by filling them up with water..
