Hey guys I need ya'lls opinion...My dad is in the market for a side by side
We have 2 hunting clubs in central louisiana.  One has pretty tight trails and would be considered swamp land in the winter...The other has more jeep trails and has a low bottom as well as higher ground so in the winter it is more navagatable...  The 2nd one is where we will be most so mud is not as much of a factor...

My dad is thinking about getting the yamaha rhino 660 basic addition
or the cub cadet volunteer utility with the 748 cc efi v-twin 4x4
with the promotions the pricess are very similar.  My dad likes the cub cadet a lot b/c of how heavy duty built it is and it does run 32 mph.  My dad is not looking at speed being a factor.  How well do the cub cadets hold up?  How comfortable are the rhinos?  Which can pull more weight? or hold more weight in the bed?  What is more practical for a louisiana hunting club?  How manuverable are the two?  I appreciate any and all feedback b/c based on ya'lls opinions he will make a decision.

I thought those things were carbed?  Either way, its all about what he is using it for.  Those engines in the cub's are just a kohler lawnmower engine.....not like the rhino engine at all.  I think the difference being the power band and rev limit....but I am sure that cub is a decent machine for work.

I looked them over at Bass pro... I would definately get a rhino or something other than the cub.  I was not at all impressed with it.  Stock snorkels are way too low... that may or may not be an issue for you... everything else just had that cheap lawnmower feel to it.  either way good luck with the purchase

There is a dealer we know of that has two 660s left he is trying to get rid of so that is how we would get it...I appreciate everyones opinion so far...anymore comments?I just wish someone had driven the cub on here...I personally like the rhinos a lot better

I think people are missing the point....your dad doesnt need serious "fun factor"......he seems to be looking for soemthing just for hunting and a little work, not for mudding or anything like that!  Dont get me wrong, I KNOW the rhino works for all of that, but if your not looking to add 31 inch outlaws and a lift, etc., and go mudding, either will work fine for what he needs.

Just remember though.....its going to sound like your driving a lawnmower.

I vote ranger if working it is its most use, and as far as deals go, polaris is offering big discounts and low intrest rates right now.

The cubs that Lowes, Home Depot sells are not the same series that the actual tractor dealers sell, go to a tractor for the higher end cubs.

I would the the polaris ranger would be a closer match to a cub cadet. They are both pretty much golf carts!!  just kidding.

They say that about all the manufactures JD, Cub, all of them. It's funny that our Home Depots get's all the JD from the local JD dealer and they put them together and get them ready for sale. They bring them to Home Depot on their truck and assemble them on site.
