What's up guys, I just bought a 05 rhino 660 a few weeks ago. I've rode it around the house for a while the last two weeks and everything was great. I took it trail riding today and after a couple of hours the bike was pitching me some fits.

The bike will run fine sometimes then all of a sudden it will feel like it is bogging down and not want to rev, then if I let of the gas going slow it will back fire and try to die. Any suggestions? I was thinking the fuel filter might be getting clogged. It looked pretty rough.

The only thing I did to the bike was put a tank of 93 in it, and a half a bottle of carb cleaner (bottle said it was good for 15 gallons).

Use 87 octane. Higher octane is a waste and your bike will run better on 87. Change the fuel filter, keep some in the glove box. You will change them often.

it's the silicon that yamaha used to seal up the were the fuel line goes in the gas tank, it starts to disinagrate and fall in the gas tank because of gas and gas fumes, If you take the passenger seat off I think??(I haven't owned a rhino for years now) but there is 3 small bolts holding the fuel line in,, if you take them out and the plastic thing they are holding down you will see the silicon pull up with it. I redid mine years ago with a better more gas resistant sealant.

Really, I thought the owner manual told me to run 91 or higher. I will have to look again. I understand the whole octane thing, I figured the 660 had a decently high compression ratio to require it.

No, 87 is fine. I even ran mine with 87 after putting a 12.5:1 hi comp piston in it. 87 is plenty fine for stock. You can buy the fuel filters for like $2 at auto zone. Just bring your stock one in and they can find one that will match up.

I put on a new fuel filter, and changed the spark plug. Almost seems to run stronger then when I bought it. Hopefully that was the problem!

it's good you changed the plug but you probably didn't need to, I could almost bet it was all the filter, definitely carry extras and don't forget to clean that silicon out of the top of were the gas line goes in the top of the tank because it will continue to clog the filter.

Yeah, get it on an air\fuel reading device of some sort before you burn it up. When you snorkeled it they are very hard to get adjusted right. Almost impossible without some sort of oxygen sensor. Are there any dynos close to you?

Check your spark plug. Make sure of the color.

If you want to check the fuel/air mixture, you can go to any body that does inspections for cars. Have them put the O2 sensor up the pipe and let you know where the count is. If you feel comfortable, you can weld a bung in the header pipe and use a portable O2 sensor from an auto parts store. Put the guage in, read it, remove the guage and install a plug in the bung. I'm sure some one here can tell you where it should be. Good Luck
