 my wifes 06 rancher at got gas in the oil due to trash in carb filled up airbox and in turn run through pcv line into motor since then the tranny will not shift out of low gear and stutters while backing up i have checked everything and come up with a code 5 which is angle sensor i have traced the problem down to the swash plate being locked can anyone tell me the procedure for unlocking the swash plate any help will be greatly appreciated

Are you sure the bike is a Rancher or is it a Rubicon ..?


Here is the motor lock info for a Rubicon ..

yeah its a 400 rancher with the hondamatic unit but i was wrong about the year model it is an 07 thanks for the help do you or anyone else know if the initialization process is the same as the rubicon if not how is it done

thanks for the help honda mechanic i thought that was how it worked. but it was not locked i am to the point of either the control module or need to be re initialized and im not sure about the initialization hate to buy pcm and that not be it i checked oil psi its ok i jacked it up with the control motor out and manually turned gear while running the post for the angle sensor would turn and it would speed up like it is supposed to all the way to 53 like always so i am 99% sure its electricalif anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated

Did you have the angle sensor off the engine, and if so did you pre-load it when you installed it..

yeah i preloaded the sensor but i found my problem when i first started i found some corrosion in the ecm plug and cleaned it out when that did not help i didnt think about it anymore until all diagnostics come back to bad ecm so i went back and looked again and 1 pin on the tranny side of the ecm gone got to looking and the rest of it was still in the plug so i guess it just corroded off thanks for all the help and the steps for the initialization process
