take the spark plug out and hold it near a ground (frame or shock mount bolt) and see if you have spark that way. if nothing put a new spark plug in and see whatcha got then.

Look at the parts diagram online. It comes with the whole coil. Not hard to change.

you should get a spark with a screw driver, replacing the plug wont do anything you should have spark no matter if the plug is bad or not, (if its black it needs to be replaced anyway), you could have a bad plug wire, something wrong at the coil, or at the worst your stator could be bad, there is a little magnetized box that is wired in with the stator that provides spark. i doubt this is your problem but at worst it could be. try your spark plug boot, then wire, then coil, if all that fails, it could be your stator.

ya that is your problem, there is a little black box that is wired in with the stator, i replaced my stator and put that in upside down, there is a little circular magnent on the black box it needs to the facing the rotor. there has to be a magnetic feild in between the black box and stator across the rotor.

FYI, if the plug is heavily fouled with soot (black carbon deposits from being too rich) then it is possible to lose spark.  Reason being is the carbon deposits fill the gap between the ground strap and the electrode.  When this happens, there's no gap for the electricity to jump to create a spark.

that is also true, didnt think about that one. but if he stuck a screw driver up there it should scratch most of that soot off and get a connection goin? try cleaning out the boot first and make sure theres no soot up there first and replace your plug. when i replaced my stator though i had this problem from putting the little black box in upside down.

ya i went through the same thing lol, when its in the right way it looks upside down. but it has to be down in there to where the rotor is inbetween the black box and the stator.

The little black box you are referring to is the pickup coil a.k.a. the pulsar coil.  There is a small metal strip on one side of it.  That side needs to be facing the rotor.

As far as sticking a screwdriver up there, I have no idea what you are referring to by that.  The gap I am referring to is the spark plug gap itself, not in the plug cap.

mud dog explained the stator problem perfect. and thanks for clearing up the plug thing i didnt really understand your previous statement i thought you were saying that soot could be in the top of the boot. he was talking about taking the plug out and sticking a screw driver in the top of the boot and check for spark, not touching the plug to the frame and checking to see if the plug had spark.

are you grounding the screwdriver or taking it near a ground? thats the only way your gonna get a spark
or just touch the screwdriver while cranking and you will feel it

First, if there is no spark start with the basic's check for power at the coil with the key on, if power is there check to see if the ground is triggering when the engine is turning over, if all that checks out
the coil is bad

I was starting it with the screw driver in it. And got nuthing even stuck my fingure around it and started it and got nuthing. So i am led to assume its the coils. I wrote the place i bought the stator  from and all they asked did i follow the directions. So i said yes, so tell me what the problem could be, so still waiting on that answer.

makes me wonder if you were truly having a problem with the stator in the begining
was the bike running while it had a charge on the battery?
