need a lil help from anyone who has any input. my bro in-law has a 250 explorer 4x4. while riding lastnight the chain broke. we dont have a polaris dealer near by so he went the the kawasaki suzuki dealer and bought a new chain. while there they called the polaris dealer and and they told us that the chain takes 80 links but the book they had there in the store says 76 links. they cut the chain to 80 links an we brought it home and installed it. we used the chain adjustment guide in the owners manual and the chain is so long that it kinks up while rolling. the old chain is the same length and was entirely to loose also. any ideas or anyone know how many links it is really supposed to be?

I do not know how many links are supposed to be in your chain, but being as is it too long, then this is good for you.
Start removing 1 link at a time until it is the right length. Remember to back the chain adjustment off as far as it will go everytime.
You can remove links from a chain very easily. If you do not have the proper chain link remover, you can use a file or grinder to remove the links.

BUT, I do not suggest using a grinder to remove the link from a oring chain. The grinder can build heat and melt orings on adjacent links.

Good luck with it.
