This is just the last thing we need right now.  But I'll probably get a few things together too just incase the worst happens.

Looks like next week and weekend might get interesting. Ya'll keep a close eye on it down there. May have to make a run to the coast and get my Pops.

Still a longs ways out.  I'm taking comfort in the fact that the models are showing that it's coming straight up the Mississippi River, that noramlly means it will end up somewhere else.  Not sure my wife could handle another big one.  We would end up in north LA if we get hit again.  I'll start preparing this weekend if it's still on teh same course.

not looking good, where is it going to hit though, thats the big question, this is looking to be a big storm if it comes ashore in the gulf

you aint lieing lol, thats prob one of the reasons im not gonna be going to far for to long if it comes for us, i aint got the money to be going to far away to run from this storm, maybe a tank of gas away and a tank of gas back, im broker than crap becuz of breaking my arm and having surgery on it, i still am not fully paid off on that accident yet, still got about $800 left on that bill to get off my back ontop of all my other bills

closest family that doesnt live near us in in lafayette, la and im sure i wont go there and then next is probably baton rouge area and i may go there if i can get intouch if it comes more my next of the woods than there next of the woods

Think if it comes our way again we are heading to College Station.  Which is cool in small doses, a Longhorn like myself cant sustain life in that kind of climate for more than a week or so....

Where ever it is going it is not going to be pretty.  Sucks to be on an island because you have no where to run!

yea gas prices were actually just getting back to a reasonable amount but this storm will definitely throw a monkey wrench in the equation.  Take all your things that you can fit, learned that first hand,  old pictures aren't replaceable and thats what people miss the most, and take the computer if you got pics stored on it.

Oh and another thing, recently FEMA announced ice as a luxury item and they would not be supplying it in the next emergency, ha go figure. No power, and 95 degree temps but ice is not a necessity.  What a joke.

We have been watching it real close out here in the Gulf, they are looking at evacuating the non-essential personel around Sunday or Monday, and possibly a full evacuation Tuesday or Wednesday. If that happens then I have to go to Covington and monitor my platforms via computer until the winds are sustained at 80mph, then shut in the platforms, hurry up get back home, pack up the wife and kids, and all of my essential items and probably head up to my uncle's deer lease in Chatam, next to Caney Lake.

Hopefully it will turn towards Mexico and leave us alone.

Dont know if any of you guys checked out this model(s):
http://hurricane.accuweather.com/hurricane/atcf.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&basin=atlantic&stormNum=6

Its not looking good for us in LA. Im about 40 minutes southwest of Baton Rouge so we are a little ways inland but I remember Andrew and it wasnt pretty. We have been stocking up on gas for the generators since the beginning of summer. Here goes another crazy LSU football season, lol

This is the best hurricane site I have found. It uses info from all over to give the best info.

http://www.crownweather.com/gustav.html

Note the NHC and the GFDL Models tend to be the most accurate on forecasting hurricane tracks. So far it is not looking good for any of us.
