Adding pipes and filters, etc eic doesnt increase top end at all, you just get there faster. Your rpms will be controlled by a ecm and even then your stock clutching will be deciding factor also, when your out of gearing your out of gearing.

I ride with a polaris 500 and when we get together a Grizzly 700, Rzr 800, Brute 750, and a Can-am 800 the Popo has no chance on the open road on keeping up with any of us, he tops on a GPS at 56 on stock sized tires, new belt and the whole 9, so for you to run 70 I call bs unless you put it in nuetral and threw a rope into oncoming traffic

Exactly.  It doesn't matter if you put turbos, nitrous or all the bolt ons in the world.  If your bike won't turn more max rpms than it did stock it will run the same top end speed.

Not totally true,  the older 500's had no ecm's or rev limiters.  After engine mods mine turns 9300 no load and will turn about 8700 rpms in gear.  I never had a tach when it was stock but I know there was no rev limiter.

I would not say that.   I used to sell them and wrench on them from 1998 to 2002.

So what do you say the rev limiter is?  I have a 2000, dad has a 1999 and my buddies have 01 and 02's , 500 sportsmans the only thing stopping them from over reving is valve float. I am just going from my own expirience.  I know of  at least 5 that are several different years with no rev limiters.
There is one thing I will say that I agree with everyone else here,  a stock 500 will not run 70mph

How many people have a popo and have hit 70 on it? I have but this dude wont belive me. Well before I Put my Accersoies on it it was over 70. I dont Know What Your Dealer Ship Set Your Govenor.

So I guess those of us with "newer" 500's that don't believe a stock 500 will do over 70mph makes us haters? Bottom line is if you want to do those kinds of speeds you should a little sport quad. Utility quads are not really designed for speed.

That's some funny stuff.

Did it go the same speed going both directions on that section of pavement?

we Had it clock by gps and one of those police radars

Good luck on getting the speedo recalibrated.   Oh and you better get that new garmin checked out also or you have one of the fastest stock 500s to be built by polaris ever.

I would love to see this.  I have yet to anything under a 750 brute run close to 70mph..  My 700 don't even think about going that fast with 28's on it..  Why does anyone need to run 70 mph and a atv anyways??
