REMF -> 27" Bugs on a stock 450 Kodiak? (9/24/2008 4:09:42 PM)

Just wondering if a bone stock 05 Kodiak 450 will have any problems with running F27x10x12 R27x12x12 Mud Bugs without a clutch kit? I am currently running stock F25x8x12 and R25x10x12. I have the aluminum griz rims.

Thanks

It will occasionally, in the thickest of mud, have some trouble, but overall you should be fine as the bugs are light tires, and grip wel, but not so much as to holding the power back.

you wont have any problems in low

What about spacers?  Will I need to use them? with 10x fronts and or 12x rears?

you want able to in reverse unless you have a override button

Memory fails me, does your kodiak have the Low range?  If it is the Kodiak without the low range, then even agressive 25 inch tires will slug it down a lot.

If not, then go with my first post. [:D]

shouldnt have a problem pulling them, i would consider a clutch kit so there will be no dissapointments

Yes the 05 450 has the low gear. Had the 27" bugs installed yesterday, went for a ride today and they did well. Went thru some fairly deep mud and ruts and the bike did fine, made a huge difference in ground clearance.  Went to about 3000ft and there was 6 or more inches of wet snow. Coming down in some of the steep spots the front tires did rub just a bit on the front over fenders when turned but nothing really serious. Thanks for the input guys. I think I will do the clutch kit when I save up more pennies.
