ya i found out we have a 60" on the sportsman 500, it does fine plowing but imo i think its hard on them, id rather have a truck do it. we have stock tires on it and they just spin and spin and get full of snow so thats probly why it dosnt do good but i heard if you get a small plow that it wont push the snow far enough away from your tires so your just running over the snow that goes to the side wich makes it harder to push snow

rjsfun,

Those are great pics... and a fine quad/plow combo.

Apex rider,

I have the Glacier 2 plow system for my Sportsman. I haven't had the chance to use it yet, but I talked to several people who have it before I purchased the quad. They love it.

My son has the 60" Moose Plow for his 400 CAT, and he plows with no problems. Of course, we don't get the snow back here in PA that some other folks get. However, he uses the plow very hard and it has held up well. He also had a Moose plow on his old King Quad. The Quad wore out before the plow.

I know the Moose plow is heavier than the Glacier 2, but I think it's also taller. The Glacier 2 is 14" tall. Should handle up to a foot of snow with no problem, and we don't normally get many storms that big. If we do, I'll just plow it twice.

i have a cycle country plow i hav had it on 4 different fourwheelers so far and i love it. it came on my grandpas 1986 honda 250 2x4 when he bought it in the early 1990s then in 2002 he bought a brand new rancher 4x4 i modified the mount to fit, then i totled his rancher and put the plow on a 2005 scrambler 500 i had, agail i modified the mount and after i sold the scrambler i put it on my newest fourwheeler a 1987 fourtrax foreman 350 4x4 (new to me) by the way im a welder so i did everything myself.

anyways  that plow has taken alot of abuse from me in the last 5 years i have used it and i have never had any problems eved with the springs chained to push dirt. mines 50" wide with a rubber flap acrort the top.

I have the 60" Tusk City Slicker plow on my 07 Big Bear and it has worked awesome.  I like how their center mount easily disconnects, leaving a smooth underside with nothing hanging down.  But...I lived in North Dakota, where the snow doesn't really get that wet or heavy.  With my tire/wheel setup, the 60" just barely covered my tracks when at full angle.  I did have issues with tearing up the grass next to the sidewalks, where the dirt was higher than the concrete.  My mudlites worked very well also...the only time I ran out of traction was when the snow was frozen several inches thick on top, through drifts that were 3-4 feet high.  With a front locker and those tires, I could easily push snow higher than the blade...
I will agree with the statement about it being fun...I put over a 100 miles on mine in two seasons just plowing snow...haha.

Quick ? for you members with plows, a city official in my area recomended that i find an alternative for the plow skids on my plow so that i dont scratch the sidwalks. has anybody heard of using small wheels instead of skids?? I'm trying to figure out how the heck i'm going to be able to do this. if anybody has any recomendations or would be willing to fabricate something for me, please send me a PM! again, thanks! -Adam

You could use some sort of plastic bolted to the skid feet. Kind of like the nylon cutting edges on plows of smaller trucks.  You could also just take off the skid feet and when the plow bottoms out just lift it a little. Just a few ideas.... don't know why they would give you a hard time, snowblowers and shovels will also scratch a sidewalk. Or you could tell them to clean their own sidewalk without scratching it if it's such a big deal.

Just get a plastic wear bar for the bottom of your blade, and make your own feet from stuff around the local hardware store. I've even seen people use/make wooden feet.

A guy I worked with put some tracks on his Polaris...and had to extend out his plow to clear them.  I'm not sure which plow model he used though...just food for thought if you're ever thinking about tracks.

I have the Moose 60" Plow and love it. I did have the 50" on it first but since i have the ITP ss wheels on it when angled the 50" was going to be pushing the snow into the tires. It is a little big for small sidewalks but that was no concern for me. Just thought this would help.

Let's see some snow/quad pics!

I live in northern iowa and i love snow riding. Last winter my buds and i put 70miles on in one day. Crossing frozen rivers, trying to get up icy ditches, jumpin drifts.
