Status: offline 		Well Carey Lee had a tiger by the tail today.  He was by himself with Brooklyn and had to call for reinforcements.  She went buck wild.  She is tired of all this crap and tried to pull everything out.  I think she even tried to beat dear old Dad up.  The situation just sucks.  She knows what that place means and she is not at all happy with it.  She may just be 20 months old but she is VERY smart.  Any way they finally figured out that she was in pain and gave her some meds.  Ya'll just keep praying for their continued strength and patience.

Status: offline 		I JUST THOUGHT I WOULD UPDATE YOU ALL ON BROOKLYN.
While as of right now she is probably tearing down the house, on Thursday she will be having surgery to remove several tumors.  I have been told that the surgery is very serious. (as any surgery is)  Big brother ( who is 3) will be there so nerves will be tested.  He is very much and outside kid.  Please pray for the Doctors, nurses and other staff members of UAB that will be taking care of her.  Also send up a special on for our Angel.  You all have been so kind to pray for her and give of your time and donations.  You are truly special people.  Merry Christmas from my family to yours.

Status: offline 		Just thought I would let you guys know that Brooklyn's surgery went well.  She spent all day with nothing by mouth.  Surgery lasted 3 hours.  The surgeon says that he got everything that was black on the xrays and scans.  She will recover and go to her regular room.  Our next hurdle is the stem cell transplant in January.  Hopefully she will do well this weekend and be ready to travel home for SANTA!!!!!!

Status: offline 		You guys all remember the ride we had for Brooklyn Davison.  She is the daughter of my Cousin Shannon.  I thought that I would take a moment to update you on her condition.  Let me start by saying that I have learned more about Neuroblastoma and it's demons than I ever wanted to.  It wants to take over and never leave.  Brooklyn is fighting with every ounce of her being.  She had surgery before Christmas to remove all suspicious areas that showed up on scans and xrays.  Today she has had a final round of Chemo before the stem cell transplant.  Carey and Shannon are doing a wonderful job holding their precious family together.  They are strong, but still need our prayers and support.  They have been doing extensive research on this devil and may decide in the next few weeks or days to travel to MSKCC in New York.   Here is a brief synopsis of MSKCC and what Neuroblastoma is.


Neuroblastoma is a rare cancer of the sympathetic nervous system -- a nerve network that carries messages from the brain throughout the body. Each year there are about 650 new cases in the United States. It is usually found in young children, and it accounts for half of all cancers in infants. These solid tumors -- which take the form of a lump or mass -- may begin in nerve tissues in the neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, or, most commonly, in the adrenal gland. They may also spread to other areas of the body, including bone and bone marrow.

The cause of neuroblastoma is unknown, but most physicians believe that it is an accidental growth that occurs during normal development of the sympathetic nervous system.

Treatment for neuroblastoma differs depending on many factors, particularly the stage of the disease and the age of the patient. Neuroblastomas that have recurred, or come back, may require different types of medicine. The main goal of our neuroblastoma program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is to minimize the use of the most toxic forms of treatment, such as chemotherapy and radiation, and to maximize the use of immunotherapy -- a form of treatment that is designed to destroy neuroblastoma cells by strengthening the patient's own immune system.
