I noticed that my ball was really rusty.  I will have to clean it off.  That is also what I was thinking about the ground but don't think it is the 1 on my trailer because everything else works fine.  I just hope it is the ball on my truck?
2 pages and almost 3 months and you still haven't fixed it yet?

It's NOT the ball hitch.  You can NOT use the ball hitch for a ground.  Your lights will blink on and off and in wierd patterns all day, every day.  Trailer lights ground through the trailer light ground wire.

When both the left and the right side come on with a left or a right blinker, that is either a failed bulb, a bad ground, or somebody's wired one of the connectors incorrectly so that the tail light circuit is in the brake/turn position.  Since the trailer did work properly, you can probably assume that the right wire goes to the right place.

There's four wires here.  Three out, and one coming back.  Verify them one at a time.  It shouldn't be more than a three minute thing to find out what's what...

Do you have a test light at your disposal?  And a chunk of wire long enough to ground the test light directly to the vehicle's battery?

Yes I have fixed this once due to the advice listed on this thread.  Yesterday I noticed this new problem & instead of starting a new thread just posted back on this 1.
