So it's been well over a year since I've had any Yamaha engine apart. I'm too familiar with KTM engines, and that get's me nowhere as I'm sitting here trying to figure out the internal oiling systems for the Grizzly engine by looking at oil-flow charts. So this is where you guys who've had your cases apart a few times get to answer a few questions for me. [:D] 1. The cylinder and the bottom of the piston are lubricated and cooled by oil slung from the crankshaft correct? 2. The oil that the crankshaft slings is from both the lower conrod bearing and also from crankshaft dipping into the oil sump in the bottom of the crankcase correct? 3. Because of this, there is no oil jet that squirts oil into the bottom of the piston correct? 4. Finally, the wrist pin (piston pin) is lubricated from the oil from the cylinder walls which is scraped from the cylinder by the scraper ring, then directed onto the wrist pin surface via the oil holes located in the scraper ring groove, correct? I've been thinking about this lately because I've been brainstorming/writing down all ideas I've been having about how I would like to build up my Grizzly once the rings are worn out and won't hold good compression anymore. I've been thinking of adding in an oil jet that squirts pressurized oil onto the bottom side of the piston to aid in cooling the piston and keeping the cylinder good and lubricated. Anywho, I'm thinking of building my Grizzly to either an 800 EFI using the Hauck kit or a 727 EFI and a Microsquirt ignition and fuel management system to power it all. If I'm going to do all of that, I'm going to ensure it has everything it needs to stay together after spraying it or possibly forcing air through it. [;)]
