Grizztex -> trading my grizz 700 (9/3/2008 8:14:00 PM)

I have a 08 grizz 700 with a 2 inch lift and 29.5 laws. I was thinking about trading it in for a can am 800. Is it worth it? Is there a big enough diff in the mud to make it worth it.

MUD STUD -> RE: trading my grizz 700 (9/3/2008 8:25:26 PM)

i dont think i would i will start off saying i have never roda a cam am 800 but i have rode a griz 700 as far as one outmuding the other i thint it would be about the same imo the griz may out mud a outty just my oppion i know the outty has way more power and will get you to the mud holes faster but imo i would just keep the griz

that video realy dont prove much because the outty had to clear out the ruts unlike the grizz and artic cat but just shows you a little [:D]

honestly i would go for it... nothing like the power of a can am. depending on how it is set up, it will most likely out-mud the grizzly. only thng i like more about the grizzly is the diff lock.. im not big on the visco lock but hey it works.

Ok thanks for the input. I at least want to ride a can am before i commit to it.

The Power of the Can-am 800 is just rediculous. It really is a great ride and I love it.
As far as out mudding the Grizzly, well I don't know.
Both atv's are so close in features that it is a close call, maybe just even.....like almost every atv now.
Features:
- Both have IRS with similar GC....an inch here or there don't really matter.
- Both have front locking capability.
- Both have enough torque to turn big tires....though the Can-am can really turn them when you come on to it.
Some holes the Grizzly will get through easier, some holes the Can-am will get through easier. It all depends on each individual situation.
But I will look at this way......and this is where I think the Grizzly might have a SLIGHT (and only slight edge in overall mud riding capabilities)......in an OVERALL picture.

- The Front end diff lock on the grizzly can be locked in all times. It requires no spinning to lock-up. Unlike the CanAm Visco lock, which requires spinning of one front wheel to build hydraulic pressure to spin the other. If you have to stop in the middle of the hole for some reason, you have to start spinning again to build the hydraulic pressure up again to engage both front tires. This is only a slight edge though, as the CanAm still has a diff lock none the less. The trick to it with the CanAm is to never stop spinning....never let go of the throttle...and the lock will stay engaged.
- The Grizzly is almost 200 pounds lighter. The CanAm is heavy. This lighter weight is a real advantage when going through the slopp.....BUT, on the other hand, weight can sometimes be an advantage for getting the tires down deep for hooking up....but as an OVERALL, lighter means better.

BUT again, the CanAm is a great ride....It is very comfortable and capable, and the power is just great. The handling on the CanAm is also very good. And the slight advantage the Grizzly MAY have in the mud OVERALL, is probably not even worth mentioning. Both atv's are good performers. Having the power of the CanAm might make you like it better.....
I'd say, if you can get a good deal on it and you are ready for a change, go for it. If you do not get a good deal, then keep what you got. You already have a good ride, and I wouldn't give it up unless it was a great deal....to good to pass up.
As far a reliabilty, take care of it and maintain it right, and most any atv will be last.
I hope this helps.

I have the 800 now and love it. I wouldn't tade it right now for anything. However when it dies for good I will be going to a Grizz I think. 1) b/c of the weight. The 800 is a TANK when you get it stuck but it has to be some nasty stuff to get stuck. 2) is b/c of the price to fix that v-twin. Everybody knows a grizz can drink water. If you get water in the 800 plan on spending the next few hours flushing and filling. At least about 10 quarts of oil. But the rear trailing arms make for a real nice ride no matter what or what size tire you run. Hope that helps.
