Yep, gas went up at our store .20c today.. its sad. it really is.. the fact that people need gas to get out of town and for the ones staying to survive on generators for weeks.. you would think the government would some how lower the price so people in the impact zone can do what they need to do to SURVIVE!!

Well, if it does hit Texas it's going to hit further south...we will get some wind and rain here in East Texas but no need for ANYONE around here to evacuate! I'm sure they're booking rooms just in case...

yeah hurricanes are ALWAYS changing their path... I learned that from Charley he decided to turn at the last minute up the Charlotte Harbor instead of going up to Tampa giving us 30 min to evac and he also decided to beef up to Cat 4 just before he did! So in my book projected paths= guesstimations and Gustav could hit anywhere once he gets to the gulf!

i think they needa drop a mini nuke inside of a hurricane and blow it apart or shot a missle and blow it up right infront of it pushing it back or something

has anyone ever tried something like this, the guys around the office happen to think blowing a mini nuke or giant bomb up inside of it would either blow it apart to where it couldnt form again or it would piss the hurricane off and make it stronger

its worth a shot though i would think although the radiation would still be present

Back in the 60s the govt actually tried "seeding" a couple of hurricanes to weaken them. They dropped millions of tons of dry ice in them hoping to cool them off and be able to steer and weaken them, but they ended up actually having the reverse effect and strengthened the storm.

Places should not be allowed to raise the price of gas that is already in the ground.  That is gouging. Plain and simple.

Owning a gas station is all about future prices. I by no means enjoy high gas prices, but they have to raise the prices of the gas they have in the tanks because they have to predict what their next purchas of gas is going to cost them.

I understand that. It seems funny to me that they never LOWER the price of gas that is already in the ground.  They raise it the first chance they get but, if the price of oil drops and gas follows suit, they leave the price the same until a new shipment arrives.

The gas in the ground is already bought and paid for. The price should not be raised until a new shipment arrives and it must be changed, either up or down, accordingly.  Just my 2 cents.

Governor Declares State Of Emergency
MEMA Could Decide Thursday If Evacuations Are NeededPOSTED: 1:55 pm CDT August 28, 2008UPDATED: 4:57 pm CDT August 28, 2008

JACKSON, Miss. -- Gov. Haley Barbour declared a state of emergency for Mississippi on Thursday as the state prepares for a possible strike from Gustav, spokesman Pete Smith said.“I urge all Mississippians to please take this storm seriously," Barbour said. "One of the most important lessons we learned after Hurricane Katrina was that there is no substitute for awareness and self-help, especially in the days before a hurricane is predicted to hit. Now is the time to prepare yourself, your family and your friends.”The storm is churning toward Jamaica and the Cayman Islands after moving away from Haiti and the Dominican Republic, where it killed 59 people.

Contraflow will be started when they have a better idea if it will be hitting LA or MS, but rest assured when they do start it they only way south will be by the back roads which will be slam packed with traffic both ways. Plan to do your road trip early.

They will start contraflow as soon as a mandatory evacuation order is sent down either on the coast or down in LA.  This weekend is going to be an interesting one.
