BILOXI -- The widespread rumor that meteorologist Jim Cantore is in Biloxi is just that, a rumor.
People from Jackson County to Hancock County have heard that Cantore, who works for The Weather Channel, checked into the IP Resort and Casino.
However, officials with the 24-hour weather station said Wednesday that Cantore is in the Atlanta office and isn't expected to be in Biloxi.

I heard a couple references to the paths of Katrina and Andrew today. They are already talking about cancelling the LSU game to use the roads for Friday. Not looking good for south LA. My job is flying me out Saturday morning to go to Chicago to keep up operations. The bad part is that its a one way ticket cause they arent sure when we will be back.

All of those models are nuts. There is no way a storm moving that slow will go in a straight line. Not saying it won't hit any place they mapped(because that covers everything), but the path will bounce around alot.

The GFDL model has shown to be the most accurate out of all the models. For me lets hope not, but out of all of these models can you see how they are all starting to agree with one another.

this will be my first hurricane on the coast. im not excited. quite scared to be honest. justin says we wont leave. just go stay with his dad in saucier. (safer to be in a house than trailer). however, he did tell me he'd send me to vicksburg to stay with my parents if it gets too bad.

I don't see how y'all deal with that every year.  We get a few tornadoes every spring but they are not 500 miles wide and they don't last 12 hours.  Good luck and don't be a hero.  Get out of the way.

Don't be like those New Orleans folks and wait for the government to come get you. There is plenty of room in Tennessee for you.  We are a pretty peaceful bunch up here.

let me extend an invitation to you to come spend hurricane season with us. LOL!!!!

as of now it has been down graded to a tropical storm as it passes Haiti, but this thing aint done yet.

I have to admit I would like to experience a CAT 1 hurricane. I like storms and could be a storm chaser for a little.  When they get to CAT 3 strength and above, I think I will just stay here.

I had a tornado pass directly over my house about 5 years ago. Luckily it wasn't on the ground.  Neighbors saw it.  I never heard the freight train sound everyone talks about. I heard a high pitch whistling sound.

Y'all be safe down there.  Good luck.
