I wonder if an exhaust would match up.  The 550 may have a shorter/longer exhaust pipe than the 700.  I would think that they would use the same length from the muffler to the place where it connects to the exhaust pipe, so as to keep production costs down.

Like I said, everything that fits the 700 will fit the 550.  Including the 734cc kit.  Buy the 550 to save some coin and put what you saved to buy a the kit to come out with a bigger cc quad.

Ok, but what about the FI fuel controller?  I called HMF, Dobeck, EHS and Dynatek but no one could give me a solid answer.  I want to get a pipe but don't know if I can get a controller to go with it.

oohh good catch. that might be something you might have to wait for . Unless someone on here is  a computer wiz and knows it the electronics are the same .  The fuel maps are probably different because of the different sizes and need for fuel air amount is probably different.

couldnt you go to one of the yamaha part website's. get yamahas part #'s for the cdi and like electronic parts and see if there the same? if they have the same part #s i would think the optimizers would work.

Im 99% sure that they work on both machines.  The only difference is the mapping.  This would have to be adjusted by you which it has to be adjusted from HMF's settings anyway for the 700.

Looking at the wiring diagrams and part numbers it looks exactly the same.

I takked to Dobeck today and they said that they are looking into it but have not gotten a 550 to figure out the new map.  Here is a couple of pics with the 28" MST's.  I put them on stock wheels because these are coming off after deer season, probably go with a set of laws or backs, just not sure yet.

Well as far as top speed goes I'm not sure but I did get it up around 58 mph before I had to get on the breaks.  I ran out of road.

No, I have the same idea you do.  Gonna hang on to these for deer season, the club I hunt in doesn't like us running laws, baxks, or vamps. Sorry.

Shop around.  Try Lake Hill Motors in Corinth, MS or Bubba Bardwell's in Brookhaven, MS.  I got one from each and saved almost 1.5K over MSRP each time.  Some people have good local dealers as well.

Like Mudder_N_Hell said, I got it from Bradwell's in Brookhaven, MS.  I don;t think I would have gotten it so low but I wanted one without the EPS, but all they had the 550 in was with the EPS.  So they gave me the non-EPS price to make the sale.  As for turning the 28's, so far from what I can see it does well, but haven't been able to bail off in any holes yet.
