What style bulbs does my 99 Sportsman 500 use? I'm looking to upgrade to the HID lights and I've got a question. Do you just splice the balast wiring into the factory bumper head light wiring?

Not sure of the style mine were 880. The place i got mine carry about every bulb its called Intense HID whenever you get the size it is 100 bucks shipped. The factory harness just plugs into the ballast no splicing at all easy install. Put bulb in, plug wire into ballast, plug ballast into factory harnest, then blind people.

Yes thats the number for the pod. The new models take and 881 or polaris sells it as a 50watt Xenon 886. You can always pull the bulbs and match them up with a number at auto zone or any auto parts store.

Does anyone have any experience with those $60-65 HID kits on ebay?  Doing a search for "880 HID" will bring up a lot of "buy it nows" for around $65 shipped.  I've been told its better to buy from someone in the US for obvious reasons...some are US based some are China based.

All those kits are probably made in china, so long as you deal with a us company so if you need to return something it would be fine IMO, I just looked at a few and for 79.00 inc shp from a us dist. you get the one with the newer digital ballast, about the size of a credit card, would make install so much better. I think I might try a set of 10k blue ones myself.
