Im not sure if the gear was what let go first but the front half of the case is pushed out. I "think" that J had the gear bust a tooth or two, not sure though.  I will tear mine apart when the replacement arrives.

I lost two teeth off of the ring gear and the main case is all torn up.  It basically tried to rip the pinion part of the case off.

Ok that will do, we can keep that hush hush.  Atleast it broke after quite a bit more riding.  If it would have broken right after pulling the truck out or while, that would have been worse!!

what i have found is that the gears go just a few miles after lugging them in reverse. basically if you are in really thick mud and having a hard time turning the tires and you are useing reverse you are working the gears apart from each other. Thus causing more play in the gear set and causing it to put more stress on the gears and within a few miles the teeth are droping off the pinion gear and whammy you have a big problem on your hands. If you are moving fast when this happens or don't catch that it is happening you can easily tear up the cases. if you are in a situation where you are going easy and aware of odd noises that your machine is making then you can catch the bevel gear failure before it tears everything to pieces. just my conclusions that i have gathered from the 2 gear sets that i have seen go first hand.

Yes sir they will.  AC put a whole new motor in my 500m instead of just fixing it thought that was real good of them.

We just have to learn to be alittle easyer on things with these great big huge tires..lol
