I wonder what day the new one was made on.

I dont know how to tell what day it was made on,, all it says under the seat is 07/08

I was saying that as a joke. I didn't really mean it. I was just trying to say that some bike are stronger than others. Not all of them are equal if that makes sense. You got some that run like speedy gonzales and some run like a turtle.

And here I thought you were going to tell me how.

Is the differences worth trading in an 07 for the 09...

And would a clutch kit help the low end  or would it hurt the high end...

It would definitely help the low end.. What I failed to mention in my earlier post was that the 09's are running a heavier fly weight. THey have gone to a stock outlander weight which is 2 grams heavier than an 08's flyweight

I wonder if the flyweights are switched with the 08's, would that hurt its top end power that was added? I don't think it would because I think that top end power has a lot to do with the new cam. So switching back the weights should give it back that low end punch without hurting top too much? Maybe?

I'm gonna have to find some threads on can am clutching to see what I wanna do. I understand everything with AC clutching, but I'm not as good with cam am's.

Come on Junya, who told you it felt like it had the Outlander weights in it??!!  I have some stock 08 Rene weights here, I bet that gives it back that low end snap.  When we pull it down we can check and see if the springs are the same too.  I don't think the heavier weights will hurt the top end enough to notice.  We'll find out this Sat when we line up the crew.  So far it looks like we'll have a nice array of bikes, I'll be sporting an '08 Rene X with HMF and Powercommander.

I'm confused a little. In can am clutching, is the low end power boosted by heavier weights or lighter weights? I know with AC, it's lighter weights.

The heavier the flyweights, the faster the primary engages.

I highly doubt they changed the flyweights in the 800R.

Ok, so it's the opposite. The heavier the weights, the harder the punch. Do can ams have a primary spring and secondary spring like other bikes?

Just got through reading the break down of can am clutching in some old threads. Same ideaology as others, just some added complexities such as curvature, rivets, etc. Got it figured out a little but I'll tread lightly. My reading revealed that it can become very time consuming and cumbersome.

actually, the lighter weights give a little more low end punch off the line.  Until now, the Renegade had slightly lighter weights than the Outlander, until 2009.  The new Rene 800 R has the Outlander weights (heavier) to help with the very top end, where it got edged out by the TC.  The new R does have a bigger intake manifold, different cams, and the air filter no longer has the plastic 90 going into the boot, just one giant air filter.  I know the engineers have been trying to get rid of the 90 for quite sometime, said it disrupted the airflow and hurt the HP.  We'll tinker with Junya's clutching and see what we can do to get the fun low end snap just right.

You right gmac!! I believe that was you. I had to refer to my clutch guru to back up your hunch. As it stands, we got 4 that we can run this weekend. May have a hopped up 650 with us just for fun that I'll bet would run with most anything. Voodoo, we run a few secret spots but I'll try and get ya over here on one of the runs we make

No prob voodoo. You gettin yours outta texas still??
Well be tinkering with it quite a bit. Prolly try a few different springs and weights to see what we can pull from it. We'll have the x GMAC will be on with the hmf and power commander with no clutch mods and a rene x with just clutch mods. My 09 will only have the hmf and a power commander. None of them will be snorkeled so we should have a good bit of feedback..

Lonestar powersports is the closest. But I-45 sales would be worth the trip. Talked to those guys today and they have a couple on the way.. If you wanna try ms, competition sports already has 4 more on the floor. 2 outtys and 2 renegades

I own a outty and a gade. The clutches start to come in at 1700 rpm on both machines. So maybe they do have the same clutching. I will check my buddys 07 gade and see what rpm his starts to come in at.

I have the 07' Gade fingers in my Outy, they reduced the engagement RPM and got rid of some the jerkyness, So I am a little lost as to how putting the Outy weights in a gade for 09 would smooth out the bottom. The gade weights in an outy does make it a little faster with stock tires on hard pack or grass, not so much in the sand, I think the stock weight were maybe a little better in the sand than the gade weights.

Competition Sports is located in Gulfport Mississippi. Worth the drive IMO. Mrs Gina is very easy to deal with. They also have great service. People who actually know what they are dealing with.

Agreed barry!! They brought it up to copiah creek for me and had planned a day of riding with me but the dang rain wouldnt let up.. I sat there with for at least and hour and a half just shooting the breeze. Will without a doubt recommend them to anybody!!
Some of the other things I've noticed that are different on the 09's is that they have a drain plug on the belt housing ( finally.. now if we could just get one on the air box). They also have a air filter on the cvt intake.
C1999, I ran 34gram weights in my lifted outty for a few races last month and my engagement jumped to nearly 2700 on stock springs.  That was AFTER I pulled both the orange primary and red secondary along with the gade weights i had been running with 2500 engagement. The stall increased with the lighter weights. If you are running gade weights in your outty, which are lighter then whats stock in the outty, how are you lowering your engagement??

Hey Jun

My Outty has the Rene Weights in it as well..just like CC1999's...  The lighter weights lowered the engagement and did help with speed increases in the sprint races...RPM engagement is around 1700....

Heavy weights, more low power, lighter weights more top power? That would mean the outty weights that are in the 09 rene are lighter? Man I'm confused all over again.
