MAYBE NOT BUT DONT YOU GET TIRED OF HAVING BELT PROBLEMS....

OH AND JUST SO YA KNOW....CAN AMS ARNT SLOOOOOOW WE JUST HAVE TO GIVE THE LITTLE KWAKASAKIS AND POOPLARISIS AND EVEN THE HORNDAS A CHANCE SOME TIMES...

Kawasaki will get a stronger belt when can-am gets a stronger frame. ;d

rdnek1112 i run 27" tri-claws on a bone stock brute with 0 issues... ran it on my 05 840 before that with no issues until i installed a higher stall primary spring... took it out and back to having no problems.

The belt is fine by design as far as kawasaki is concerned and doubtful they're going to change it any time soon.

ive had my brute since august or september of 05, very first one in my area...  from the first week of having it, its had 29.5's...ive been through 4 belts, 2 of them being those sorry @$$ daycos.. ive never blown a diff, only broken 2 axles in all that time..

like everyone said, its all about knowing when  to hammer on it and when to take it easy..  riding crazy is alot of fun, but ya cant turn around and complain about the machine when it doesnt hold up to it..  i had a friend of mine tell me the other day that he gives up on the brutes because they wont hold up under HIM..  not that they wont hold up, but not to his riding style..  even the almight unbreakable hondas wont hold up acting crazy with 50lbs of unsprung weigth on each corner! :p

I need a setup that will hold up in a bog...I blew a HL belt in less than a month in a bog race saturday. went back to oem ones they seem a lot better anyways...got a severe duty on the way for back up ;) what are most people running with 31's I got a yellow sec.on the way. I'm running a red sec. now. Think the yellow will help belt life or hurt it? Does the primary need to be changed? I thought about a maroon primary.

With my 29.5s and a red secondary the only time I smoked a belt was in PB mud and my stupid self tried to back out of it. I wasn't thinking that reverse was high gear. Completetly my fault. Its all about the thumb.

who ever said high stall kills belts. then why is it that my machine has had the same belt for 3K miles now and my stall speed is 800 rpms higher then stock.  having the primary and your secondary in balance brings longer belt life. running the stiffest secondary spring is not the cure. your just wasting power and over stressing the belt.
as the primary is pulling harder on the belt to over come the secondary. I'm not saying your way is the wrong way but there is other ways.  having a good upshift on the primary and a blanced backshift on the secondary keeps belts from slipping and heating up to the point of cooking the rubber. I put on in a three day weekend 300 miles. of none stop trail riding, mudding, hill climbs, open truck trails, gravel and paved roads. thats riding for 12 hours a day. and little over a tank and half of fuel and my machine only stops moving when im gassing up, stopping for lunch, or at the end of the day. other then that its abused to no end. I will put my machine up to anyones. on an edurance trail ride and lets see who comes out with out having any belt problems.

true alot of you guys are just mudders. but there is a better way to get more power and better cvt perforamnce then just putting the yellow spring in. i can make your machine run just as good or better with some primary clutch mods, and tuning and a green or lime green secondary spring.

speedy, what tires are you running?  all those miles (or km) with some large tires and you'd have more to worry about then just the belt, lol!  so if im assuming right, that they arent a big heavy mud tire, then thats like comparing apples to oranges IMO...

the way i look at it is with a stall, i think of all those rpm's before the peak in the stall and boom, it kicks in gear and tries to "jerk" those big heavy meats around... in half-a$$ deep mud, hitting that powerband because of the stall and the tires not being able to move as fast as the machine wants them to, you just put a heavy load on that belt and went no where..

i may be wrong, but it makes sense to me?!  lol!

but with that said, i think a little primary work wouldnt hurt?! i do run a pink primary, red secondary.  but anymore than that seems like too much to me..

my normal tires are 28" mudlights. my other tires i roll on are 29.5" outlaws. the outlaws have about 500 miles on them and are showing alot of wear on the leading edge of the lugs. the mudlights have 3/4 tread left. and i use them 75% of the time. also my outlaws i only been riding on them since may of this year. my muflights are from march of 2005. my next set are sitting here and they are 28" SB's and i just got from ITP another new set of 28" mudlights.

the pink primary and red secondaru is all you need. the maroon would be alittle better as it will bring up the stall 250 rpms over stock. with the clutch mod the sheaves sit closer to the belt and put more grip on the belt the stock.

my setup was tuned in with the 29.5" outlaws. its little over kill for the mudlights. but it sure does make the side walls shake on pavement. when i tried 32" sb's i was still able to power them in the deep stuff. and remember my machine is a SRA with no internal work. just bolt on stuff for performance upgrades on the engine.

now lets talk about belts. EPI brand are made by the same company that makes kawie belts. so for 60 bucks you get a kawie belt and 100 you get a EPI. and the stock belt is double cogged and has the same specs as the epi. I have a new Kawie belt waiting to be used. once my oem belt is out of spec. when i first got my machine the belt light came on i didnt know better then i thought it ment time for new belt. so i put a dayco in thinking i was saving money. well three dayco belts later and i put the oem belt back in. I have 4800 miles on my machine now. and my service notes show little over 3K now on the oem belt. so witch is better. i say factory kawie.

but to each is there own. I felt that i could show some riders that there is more room for improvments in the cvt setups. then just slapping in the stiffest spring they could find.

LOL! I'm gonna have 25 different springs at my house before this is over...alot of opinions flying around and they all make sense. I now have a maroon pri. on the way along with the yellow sec. on the way...**** I might as well order 5 more othr colors and try all the combos

Where do you all get these springs at? Do the springs come in sets ? Are they hard to put on? I would also like to know which set up is best to make the belt last longest. I also would like to keep top speed around 50 mph.
