Quoted by devildog12210
"The gap in between the spool and the housing on all the warns allows the cable to get caught in there and blow open the housing".

I currently have a Warn 2.5ci my self that this same thing happened to and is doing me no good right now. Otherwise the winch worked perfect before this happened. It is going to cost me about $70.00 in parts just to fix the winch, which I am not happy with. Personally I don't see the need to go bigger than a 2500lb winch though, if you need more pulling power, then all you have to do is use a snatch block and run the cable back to your 4 wheeler and you will double the strengh of the winch, which on a 2500lb winch will make the winch a 5000lb winch. Just my 2 cents.

For that much you could replace it with a viper max 2500. When I get stuck it is usually pretty bad. We have alot of pb mud where I ride and it wasn't uncommon for me to have to be pulled out by trucks. LOL The last time I had mud up over both racks, but not on the racks. Thats how thick it was. A 2500 chevy was spinning all fours pulling. I need a new bumper now. So 4000lbs it is!!!LOL
