Has been hard to start lately, hasn't been rode in a month, now wont' start.  I put in two new plugs, and even took the air filter off and gave it a taste of carb cleaner.  what next?  help, want to ride tomorrow.

outlawbro -> RE: Brute won't start (7/25/2008 1:18:01 PM)

what is the gas like???

gaforeman -> RE: Brute won't start (7/25/2008 1:39:40 PM)

Good as far as i know, i filled it up and my wifes poaris out of the same can last time i rode, and hers cranks fine.  even it was gas, wouldn't carb cleaner make it fire up for a second?  i checked both plugs and they are sparking.  seems like a dull spark but i guess that's normal.

Is it tryin to turn over? Are you getting power to the starter?

BRUTE750ii -> RE: Brute won't start (7/25/2008 2:18:14 PM)

what year is it

Rinny650 -> RE: Brute won't start (7/25/2008 2:23:59 PM)

Im gonna guess probably an 05 judgin by his sig and his pic

devildog12210 -> RE: Brute won't start (7/25/2008 2:24:16 PM)

just a guess but I am gonna say its an 05

gaforeman -> RE: Brute won't start (7/25/2008 2:28:55 PM)

yeah, its on 05.  Starter is turning over no problem.  just no start up.  plugs have fire,  last time i rode it was really hard to start but ran fine all day.

Have you cleaned out the carbs? Sounds like you arent getting gas to the heads

devildog12210 -> RE: Brute won't start (7/25/2008 2:32:10 PM)

If you are getting air, fuel, and spark it should fire. This has left me scratching my head. Have you tried actual starting fluid. Im really out of ideas.

gaforeman -> RE: Brute won't start (7/25/2008 3:28:01 PM)

just tried starting fluid, still not fire.

superbogger750 -> RE: Brute won't start (7/25/2008 3:37:06 PM)

Check your valves they may need to be adjusted.

gaforeman -> RE: Brute won't start (7/25/2008 4:19:20 PM)

that's what i was afraid of.  i don't know how and don't feel comfortable doing it.  i guess its off to the shop
i just rechecked fire, sprayed starter fluid in the carbs and nothing.

gaforeman -> RE: Brute won't start (7/30/2008 7:17:46 PM)

Update:  took it to a motercycle shop.  they guys seems to know his stuff.  I told him i though valves and he said he would check it out.  he called today and says i got bad gas.  it says its sugary.  if that's the case, which i don't know about how come with starter fluid and spark it wouldn't even fire?  also, i put the same gas in my wifes polaris!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

j08BRUTEenFORCEr -> RE: Brute won't start (7/30/2008 7:57:47 PM)

best of luck man.  this whole senerio has sounded wierd from the beginning

Waterfreak66 -> RE: Brute won't start (8/1/2008 3:25:54 PM)

I found that even though my plugs were sparking, w/weak spark the cylinder won't run.  I found that my plug wires were not making good connection in the boots and replaced them with good plug wires and problem went away.  Just a thought.

gaforeman -> RE: Brute won't start (8/1/2008 5:41:31 PM)

thanks, i need all the thoughts i can get

Waterfreak66 -> RE: Brute won't start (8/4/2008 12:12:13 PM)

Did you get it figured out?

bocephus1 -> RE: Brute won't start (8/4/2008 4:32:59 PM)

You might want to try some fresh plugs.
