Give us your ideas on how to keep your ATV safe from theft. I just keep a trailer and a car parked in front of mine and I have the frame chained to a huge oak tree. I know it's not impossible to steal it, but at least they'll have to work for it lol.

What I was thinkg about doing is putting a GPS tracking bug on the 4wheeler. You can get some off ebay for around $200, and you can track it anytime, anywhere. I have insurance so it's not like I couldn't get it back, but wouldn't it be cool to show up with a squad of police cars and get your 4wheeler from the bad guys?

What are your ideas?

When I'm at the house I keep it locked in the shop. They make atv alarms like car alarms that are activated my a gyro and a pressure switch on the seat. Ebay has then and JC  Whitney has them. Pretty cheap too.

Either locked in the garage or parked in the back yard with the pitbulls,,,,,

Flordia__redneck -> RE: ATV Security (7/25/2008 3:01:40 PM)

In the garage, no one going to steal them anyway cuz the don't run. But if its ever stays out over night I will put a rag in the carb, take the spark plug wire out and depending on my mood take the handle bars off.

Oh and a loud exhaust helps to.

locked up in the back yard, 12 gauge shot gun with buckshot loaded in the choke waiting by the door. waiting on the first idot to try it.

Jake450s -> RE: ATV Security (7/25/2008 6:32:39 PM)

I keep mine insured.  Usually I keep it inside.  If not, I pad lock a trailer to the ball hitch.  If somebody wants it bad enough to figure out how to get it separated to get it loaded on a truck (or to get the whole thing on a truck) then no garage in the world is going to stop them.

Black Redneck -> RE: ATV Security (7/25/2008 7:40:41 PM)

I took a 4" steel pip that was about 5 feet long, cut a hole or slot in it just big enough for the hitch to back into.  Then dug a hole just deep enough to bee able to back the quad up into that slot and concrete the rest into the ground.  Once you back the quad in then you put a pad lock on from the under side of the hitch so they can't cut the shank with bolt cutters.  Buggered up the threads on the hitch so they couldn't just unscrew the hitch too.  Trying to write it sounds complicated but is actually pretty simple.

JasonSC -> RE: ATV Security (7/25/2008 11:12:00 PM)

Dude, I know you pay to play, but after 3 years of me being totally brutal, everything is starting to break and fall apart, and I don't thing nobody would want to buy it... I have insurance. I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired and now I think I want a nice, simple, bullet proof Big Bear.

redneckrincon -> RE: ATV Security (7/25/2008 11:13:27 PM)

JasonSC -> RE: ATV Security (7/25/2008 11:15:33 PM)

HA! Understood. Thanks anyways though. Not blaming it on the Cat at all, anyone of them would be in this shape. I just want to start over and try to be a kinder and gentler owner.
