pretty much all yamahas bigger than the 250s use 3.6:1 gears (33/9)... grizzlys, big bears, wolverines, kodiaks, bruins, etc etc
the old timberwolfs used lower 4.16:1 gears (46/11).

thanks for the info. I wonder if the rhino diffs are lower.

from the parts diagrams i've seen, the rhinos use the same 33/9 gear set in the diffs.
i've been trying to cross-reference parts from the 450 and 660/700 engines... the 450's trans is geared a fair bit lower and could be a big help to the 660/700 grizzlys if the parts will swap over. need someone with some experience in these engines to check this out.

Not meaning to steal the thread but I checked on this last time I had my cases apart. The rhino has a lower middle drive gear (450 even lower) than the 660 grizzly. The problems are that the rhino also has a tendancy to eat engine cases due to the fact that the cases are bored a little thinner to get the larger gear to fit[&o] thuse weakening the case. The second problem,,, althogh I have no proof of this becouse I have not phisicaly seen the middle gear for a rhino but I think it is the gear that alows the engines to be installed backwards. Hey If you could get it to work you would have 2 reverse gears and be able to back out of the nastiest of stuff!
