reconboi -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (7/24/2008 9:08:19 PM)

really they do that amazes me, how fast do they get their???

700sp -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (7/24/2008 10:12:04 PM)

I could possibly see this getting close to that.  I have had my 700 about 68 on gps in less than 1/4 mile. never really checked to see how fast it gets there.  I would say the 75 mark is a strech tho 72-73. They are geared to low.

son of the south -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (7/25/2008 12:48:25 AM)

i got my 500 to 70 so i would think a 800 sporty could do 75 or so[:D]

Rafy0202 -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (7/25/2008 12:51:27 AM)

700sp -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (7/25/2008 1:21:35 AM)

I would love to see a 500 do 70.....[8|]

Big_T -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (7/25/2008 8:17:08 AM)

Without mods, the SPMN500 goes about 60 top speed.
The SPMN800 tops out about 67.

Then new SPMNXP850 has a top speed of about 74.

Me too, I have a 500 HO, was doing somr clutch fine tuning, checking out how fart he clutch was shifting out on top end.   GPS installed on a paved road and 62 mph was it with the clutch fully shifted out and motor at top rpm with 27 inch outlwas installed.

This was going slightly down hill.   Level road was about 58 mph.

Betweeen the clutches and the gearing on a 500 they won't go 70 unless in the back of a pickup.

let_it_be_known -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (7/25/2008 10:17:47 AM)

when my sp800 was stock (brand new) it hit 72 on level road.

Big_T -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (7/25/2008 11:45:57 AM)

My 500 X2 will basicaly hit 60 (stock) if I'm on flat, paved road with some good distance to get to that speed.  It will hit 57 quickly, then takes a long time to get above that.

J_Fred -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (7/25/2008 4:00:49 PM)

My HO tops out at 100 km/h.  About 60 mph.

jwaters -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (7/25/2008 4:08:34 PM)

i wish my 500 would do 62.  i have been about 56-57.  i dont know about the 800's, but my 500 hits 40 pretty quick

That is because you have too big of tires on it and it is upsetting the way the clutch shifts.

I could help you on getting the clutch to shift all the way out for top end but the 500 motor doesn't have the power needed to swing the weights etc in the clutch.

crazy 8 -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (8/8/2008 3:20:25 PM)

I WAS CLOCKED BY A STATE TROOPER AT 73 ON MY 8OO

Poolaris800 -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (8/8/2008 4:36:42 PM)

I have hit 72-74 when mine was stock on level ground, down a slight slope it was probably screaming at 76-77mph

03GrizzManiac -> RE: sportsman 800 top speed??? (8/8/2008 5:04:56 PM)

Well depending on how your clutching is working in relation to the tires and anything else added to the machine that that could be the reason for your 57 mph top speed.   Actually that is not too bad for stock machine.

But I am betting your clutches are not fully shifting out which could be many things such as ectra weight added to the machine or the size of the tires.
