duckman06 -> What is it worth? (7/24/2008 5:02:50 PM)

I am looking at getting a 1993 Toyota Pickup 4x4 Xtd. cab with 2.4 motor in it plus new conversion to the 134 A (A/C) Motor.  It has 157,000 miles on it, also Manual with Tilt, & Aftermarket C/D player.  The truck has been taking care of really good & belive me when I say this it is I am very picky about such things.  The dealership I have found it at has it listed for $6,995.00.  Now that is not what I would be paying 4 it.  I found out from 1 of my trusted friends at the local dealership that they gave the old man $4500.00 trade in on it!!!  So I was thinking I might get for $5,500.00-$6000.00?  Now at 1st I was like no way but after thinking about it plus gas prices I just don't know?  I mean since gas has been going up now this little trucks vaules are rising plus I looked at another Reg. cab with a little more miles on it that looked rough & it listed for $5,995.00 at another dealership.  What do you all think???[&:]

Don't go to the stealership. Im looking at 96 4x4 4runners for $4000, heck their are some 2001 4runners for $7000.

I am with you in that thinking but I can't find any like that!!!  I mean that people are not selling out right due to the cost of gas & the dependable of them!!![:(]

Look on cragslist, autotrader and ebay. Thats where I'm shopping.

Thats the one I'm looking at. You may have to take a drive to get a good deal on one.

7 THOUSAND FOR A 93!!!!! What are they smoking?! Toyota or not it aint worth that much, I could probably find an older Yota for about half that in 1-2 weeks with the same amount of miles roughly around here.

For 7 thousand dollars?! Do you know how long you would have to drive that thing to make it pay for itself in gas mpg? I only paid 8500 for my fully loaded and lifted 99 Dakota 4x4 V8, and that was before the gas prices went to **** in a handbasket 3 1/2 yrs ago.

Nothing against your Dodge Dakota but the Toyota will be worth more!!!  Again not saying anything bad about your Dakota but it is the simple truth at 1 time I had a Dakota.  Dodge makes a good V-8 motor in your year.  SO you either have the 318 or 360?  Back on subject about the Toyota some people are paying $35,000-$40,000 dollars on a Toyota Hybrid!!!  Now with that in mine think how long that would take to pay for itself???[&:]

I know Toyotas hold their value longer then just about anything else but that is a heck of a lot of money for any vehicle that has over 150,000 on the clock and is almost 16yrs old. A 15yr old Toyota isn't worth that close to what my 9yr old Dakota with half the mileage is worth. If you are willing to pay that much I will make you a killer deal, for 5k I will meet you half way with a 91-97 Taco 4cyl 5sp 4x4 in good shape, they are a dime a dozen up here in Va.

Foulplay -> RE: What is it worth? (7/25/2008 7:49:40 PM)

Toyota's make great motors, that's been proven, but if gas mileage is what you're after, stay away from the V6's, the four banger is where it's at. Don't get me wrong, they don't get bad gas mileage but they don't get good mileage either. My wife drives a double cab (4door) Tacoma 4x4 with the V-6 in it and it gets the exact same mileage as my crew cab Chevrolet Z71 4x4 with a 5.3 V-8 and she only has half as much truck.
