I've just recently bought a 2008 outty, and yes I had to throw on a snorkel kit on it right from the get go lol,
I was just wondering if anyone is having a hard time shifting the bike gears, sometimes it shifts nice and other times I have a hard time with it. I was just wondering if it should b a concerne,

i had the same problem when i got my snorkle installed.  my problem was that the snorkle ran up the side of the shift rod that goes to the tranny and when i would pull out to shift up or down it would hit the snorkle.  it would hit one of the pvc connectors when i tried to shift in certain gears and stop it from changing gears.  i ended up breaking my knob at mud nats because i couldnt figure out what the problem was.  but i just had to re route the snorkle and it shifts fine now, also had to adjust the shift a little bit.

now that you mention the snorkel I'll have to check that out...but I dont think i'm running anything near the shiffter but then again I could be wrong

Mine was the same way. I thought this was just the way things were until I brought it in for the first service. I never mentioned the hard shifting, but the dealer must have noticed because it was as smooth as butter when the machine was returned to me. This is something that can be adjusted. Just ask.

that or what taken said, it might just need to be adjusted.  mine needed both the snorkle and me trying to force it when it was stuck had loosened it up a little.

Allright, sounds like a good idea,
adjustment does make sense after all....
one way or another i'll mention it tomorow when I go to the deallers, my brother has a renegade and is having a hard time with it, when he takes off at first it bogs but then clears up right away so we want to take it in to plug it in the computer c if it senses anything, we've already drained the gas out and changed the fuel filter thinking it was water in the gas but it still does it
anyways i'll mention the shifting tomorow when I go the my dealers

There is a graphite thrust washer next to the one-way bearing that can make the bike shift hard.  If this washer is not lubricated properly or worn out then the one way bearing will be under higher force and trying to turn the belton the primary.  This puts the tranny under a load while you are shifting and it will be tough to change gears.  A high stall will also cause this.

If it grinds when shifting I would get it fixed pronto. I just broke a spacer in the tranny which let high gear slide into the next gear. I always figured it was typical but its not. Thats a $1700 lesson learned.

there is a shift linkage adjustment

my 2" belt exhaust runs right against shifter rod.  i took the rod off my bike and bent it away from the snorkle making it easier to shift.  from there i had to adjust the length of the rod.  this helped a good bit but what really helped was changing my tranny oil..VERY MILKY  haha
