GWC -> RE: stuck cups (7/23/2008 9:20:06 PM)

I take it neither will come out..?  have you tryed the normal things cv axle puller and so on..?? if you can get one out you can beat the other one out with a sledge and a pipe.

you might not ever get them there are a few people that have had to buy whole new diffs because they wont come out.

Have you tried GWC's chain and big sledge trick?
Gorilas? I heard they use a large slide hammer with an attachment that grabs the cup real tight.
If its the ones that had the problems, We have tried it all. Including the use of a 3/8 chain a 1 ton dodge diesel and a tree, with no results.
Hopefully this is not the case.

i built a cup puller with a 1.5"x24" bolt with a 30 lb slide on it and it didn't come out.  do you think if i soak in something (i don't know what) that it will let go.  BTW are any of you guys going to be there next weekend i would like to meet you guys.  yall all seem to be my kind of people.

JUSTINMILLER -> RE: stuck cups (7/23/2008 10:39:18 PM)

Are both axles stuck in the diff???

papa_slap -> RE: stuck cups (7/23/2008 10:43:22 PM)

nope front it's stuck on the right side, and the rear is on the rside i don't think this one would be a problem,  But i can't figure a way to get the front one out because of the pin that runs in the spider gears.  IDk.

JUSTINMILLER -> RE: stuck cups (7/23/2008 10:49:44 PM)

Ok well on mine I had the right side stuck in the front and I went to a buddy of mines and we split the case gutted it then used a hand press and a torch just be VERY CAREFUL we had about 4,000 pounds of pressure plus a little heating from the torch [:D] before it came out.

papa_slap -> RE: stuck cups (7/23/2008 10:52:52 PM)

i will definately try that did it mess anything up.

JUSTINMILLER -> RE: stuck cups (7/23/2008 11:00:22 PM)

No just put a little bit of scratches on the end of the cv.But it is not sumthin to be rushed

redneck36049 -> RE: stuck cups (7/24/2008 2:42:52 AM)

well i had the same prob today while trin to get the front right axle out of my cuck. i had to call a buddy to come over and we tried everythin.  even went and bought a 12lb sledge hammer and that didnt even work. but all it took was me pullin and him hittin it with a old screw driver through the cuck and it slipped right out.

bustedknuckles -> RE: stuck cups (7/24/2008 9:56:25 AM)

Yeah man just get an old big flat head and wedge it thru there and hammer it out. [image]http://highlifter.reachlocal.net/forum/image/s2.gif[/image]
I thought it was both rears.

GWC -> RE: stuck cups (7/24/2008 1:04:41 PM)

yeap grind a big screwdrive so it will fit by the pin cut the handle off it and get the sledge hammer after it. about 20 to 30 super hard licks and it will pop out..

redneck36049 -> RE: stuck cups (7/24/2008 1:10:54 PM)

you love your sledge GWC. you must have been the guy that killed the pigs in the slater house lol

GWC -> RE: stuck cups (7/24/2008 1:13:05 PM)

Well its takes more then a 24oz hammer to get the cv cups out that for sure..lol  [:D]

drumz2129 -> RE: stuck cups (7/24/2008 1:53:49 PM)

if you can have some one pull on the axle while you hit the screew driver. makes it easier and go quicker.
